At three pm, I walked through the school gates. Normally, Jimin and me stuck together, but he was busy with his date. I was about to put my earbuds in when someone lightly tapped my shoulder. My body stiffened up, but after turning around I was pleasantly surprised to find Seokjin standing in front of me. Lately, my expectations were always way worse. He had probably seen my initial reaction and quickly apologized "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you"
I shook my head "No, I just... I always assume the worst case"
He tilted his head and smiled understandingly before putting his hand on my arm, signalling me to start walking. His touch was nothing I wasn't used to, but it still set off the butterflies in my stomach. I was unsure whether my goose bumps were caused by the cold weather or his warm hand.
"Is it alright if I walk you home, Hayoon?", Seokjin asked, already leading me in the right direction.
All I could do was nod frantically, I was afraid of my heart jumping out if I opened my mouth. God, I was a sucker for these cliché situations. And Seokjin's hand having slid down to gently take my wrist didn't help at all. I stumbled along, trying to match the pace of his long legs.
He stopped for a second, looking at me with an amused look "Maybe I should walk a bit slower"
His hair was messy from the wind, but I still felt mesmerized by his appearance. This should be illegal, seriously. God, stop staring, Hayoon.
"Seokjin, isn't your house at the other end of town?", I blurted out, not wanting to cause any inconvenience for him.
He shrugged "Yeah, but your house is in this direction. And I felt that since Jimin is busy, you'd maybe like some company"
I was about to remind him that the walk wasn't even ten minutes long but kept it to myself in order to not ruin the moment. Instead, I just looked down at the ground.
After a while of silent walking, Seokjin picked up the conversation again "Hayoon, I think it's brave that you put up with Taehyung today"
Of course he had seen me at lunch. And I would bet my ass that Jimin told everyone about my plan. Goddamn, why couldn't he keep his mouth shut?
"If you need any help or something... I mean...", Seokjin fumbled with his words before sighing and bringing us to a halt again "You are very strong, but if you ever can't do it alone, I'm here, okay?", he smiled shyly.
I felt my cheeks flaring up. He really thought I was brave, that I was the confident person I played in front of Taehyung. His chocolate eyes caught mine, still awaiting a response.
"I'm not like that at all. Usually... I mean, I just act that way to intimidate Taehyung", the words rushed out of my mouth "To be honest, it terrifies me. Everything does", I used my free hand to fix my hair, the wind had blown it into my face "And I second guess everything I do. Damn, I'll even regret saying this to you", once I started, I couldn't stop "but I do like you a lot and I wish I wasn't Taehyung's girlfriend for thousands of reasons", Seokjin put his hand onto my mouth, shutting me up before I could embarrass myself even more.
I finally took a deep breath. Oh god, I just cursed in front of Seokjin. OH GOD, I JUST TOLD HIM THAT I LIKE HIM. My eyes grew wide, unsure of how to escape this awkward situation. He removed his hand from my mouth and back to my wrist, much more gentle than Taehyung ever would.
"It's fine. I just want to be here for you, okay?", he smiled and squeezed my hand, making me immediately forget to breathe. Luckily, he returned to his non-romantic wrist position relatively quick.
"Thanks, Seokjin", I almost managed to sound normal. This was way too much for me.
We spent the rest of the way in silence, both just smiling. In front of my door, Seokjin let go of my arm for good and pursed his lips.
"Uhm see you tomorrow", I awkwardly waved but he just chuckled and pulled me into a quick hug.
He smelled incredibly good, like candles and chamomile. His arms were the perfect size to make me feel safe, I never wanted to let go. It felt amazing to be held by the person I liked. But before I could get lost in his presence any longer, he pulled away with one last whisper "I'd rather interrupt you with a kiss next time"
And while I stood still in complete shock, he gave me one last smile and vanished around the corner.
A/N: it still won't show me the screen that I updated my story??? Ugh, this is stressing me out, hopefully everyone can read it! 🤞🏼💚
