As soon as we were out of sight of that man, Carter removed his hand from my waist, and he held Clar's hand. I didn't mind. And by the looks of it she would require ten more comforting hands to calm.

"Get a car!" Carter ordered one of the staff. He ran no scrambled to obey.

"It's okay Clar. I will get you out of here. Everything's alright." He tried to soothe her. But it seemed to have an opposite effect. Her silent whimpers turned to loud sobs.

"Hey, hey, look at me." He said as he held her face in his hands. For a moment I felt as if I was intruding.

"It will all be alright. We're gonna get you home and then-"

"NO." She backed away suddenly as if Carter's touch burnt her.

"Not home! Not there! We can't go home! No nono." She started repeating over and over, anxiously.

"Why? What's wrong? Did something happen?" Carter asked worriedly.

"We can't go there!" Clarissa didn't answer his question.

"She handcuffed Nick and some other guy back home to come here." I explained.

A slight chuckle left his mouth as he looked at her admiringly. These two are clearly into each other.

"How did you manage that?"

"What if they managed to unlock themselves?" Clar asked with genuine horror across her face.

"Where's the key?"

"In the sewage." I snorted.

"Well then how can they get out?" Carter asked.

"Bobby pins, duh!" Clar retorted.

"Dude, if there's one thing I know about Nick, its that he can't use a bobby pin to save his life." Carter patted her head.

As if on cue, a white Porsche came in front of us and the driver stepped out.

Carter got into the driver's seat and Clar went beside him. As for me, I got in the backseat.

"So home's not an option, where do you want me to take you two?" He asked the both of us as the car roared to life.

"Drop her at Nick's." Clar simply ordered.

"But-" I tried to protest but Carter already cut me off.

"Nick's place it is."

And then the long dreadful car ride began.

~

"So, what was all that about?" I asked after we were at least 10 minutes into the car ride.

Both of them became so quiet, I almost thought they didn't hear me.

"That was my mom's brother." Carter said. I waited for him to go on but he didn't say anything else. When he finally opened his mouth, they weren't the words I wanted to hear.

"We're here."

I quietly got out of the car and shut the door. As I turned around Clar called for me.

"I'll call you later. Don't tell mom or dad." There was so much fear in her eyes, I didn't think to ask why.

"Okay."

And then the Porsche was out of sight.

I walked to the front door and pressed the bell twice.

"Well hello little cheat." Nick spoke as he opened the door.
