"I'm running late, I'll see you later boys!" Katie called over her shoulder as she left the apartment for the day. Looking up from their bowls, Max and Duke watched as their owner shut the front door. "Where's she going?" Duke asked, his mouth filled with food. Unsure himself, Max shrugged his shoulders and replied, "I've lived with her since I was a young pup and I still don't know where she goes!"
"She better not be seeing cats," Duke growled, "I hate cats."
Just then, an air vent burst open as a little guinea pig stuck his head out. "Here again?!" Norman exclaimed, looking around the apartment. "RODENT!" Duke screamed, getting ready to dash over. Thinking quickly, Max jumped in the way. "Duke, there's nothing to worry about! This is my friend Norman... who's gone back into the tunnels," the terrier explained, adding the last part in when he saw that the guinea pig had left while he had been talking to the giant dog.
