In the week following Camilla's death, Giselle was questioned non-stop. The letters were now in Eric's father possession since he wanted to further analyze them for any clues. Nothing else had happen since then but everyone couldn't help but be wary. There had been sights of Damien all through the city but the trail kept coming up empty. Eric wasn't going to let it go, he needed to protect Giselle, just like he promised.
He made Josie cancel any appointments he had this week since the pack needed him. His father had told the pack to be more aware of their surroundings. But Eric knew that if he wanted to get a hold of Damien he didn't to let down his guard for a bit. Damien was too smart to attack him while he was guarded.
Eric made his way out of his office now that he was appointment free. He Mercedes was parked in its usual spot since no one else would dare park there. He needed to speak to his mate to see if there was any details she might have forgotten to mention to him or his father. If someone was willing to go this far to kill someone they needed everything they could get to capture them. He got in his car and headed home.
Halfway there, he noticed a car seemed to be following him. At first he wasn't sure since they were three cars behind him. But no matter where he drove the car went the same way and stood exactly three cars behind. Even when he was in traffic the car wait for two cars to get behind him before they drove up.
There was an old road coming up that he was going to turn into just to see what happened. The road normally isn't used since it lead to nowhere. When he turned into the road and drove up a bit he saw the other car slow down and turn in as well. Eric didn't give it a second thought, he instantly increased his speed and zoom down the road. This must have alerted the other car as they had increased their speed as well.
The distinct sound of gunfire made him wary. So they weren't hired to just follow me but kill me as well, he thought. He could have jumped out of the car and shifted into his wolf but he wasn't sure if the people following him were human or not. Another shot was fired but this one bounce off his car. Eric was glad he kept a gun in his car for reasons like this.
While keeping his eyes on the road he got his gun out of the glove compartment. He checked to see if it was loaded and it wasn't. The bad part was that the bullets was underneath the passenger seat. There was only one way to get the gun loaded, he had to cruse. Thankful that the road he was on was a straight one, he took one last look out the window and line the car up with the middle of the road before letting go of the steering wheel. His werewolf reflex's helping him to be able to get the bullets in seconds.
His eyes went back to the road as he used his hands to reload the gun. A sharp sting in his arm and the metallic smell of blood hit his senses. He growl and his eyes turned amber. He had to be careful or else his wolf would take over. The burning in his arm got worse. Fuck! They shot me with silver. Now he knew for sure they were rouge werewolves and probably weak ones since they had to use guns.
He growled again and thought about a plan, when he got one he grabbed the gun and placed it out the window. He slowed the car down until they got close enough and then he shot at the front driver tire. When it hit the car veered off the road. Eric took that chance to jump out the car and transform. His wolf was out for blood and it was going to get it. He let his wolf takeover.
The two weaklings who dared to cowardly shoot at him instead of fighting him head to head didn't deserve to live. The car they were driving had hit a tree was smoking, this helped masked him coming toward them. They were standing by tree yelling at each other. He didn't care to listen, in less time than it took for someone to blink he tore the throat of the first guy and sunk his teeth into the guy's stomach, reveling in his screams until the moment he died.
The other guy had ran into trees to give himself enough distance to shift but it didn't matter. His wolf was an Alpha and these wolves wasn't even strong enough to be give a rank. He caught the scent of the mangy rouge and chased it. The idiot wolf was waiting for him, he ran at him with the intent to kill but it was not enough. Eric crashed into the wolf and sent him into a tree and was on him in a second. The Alpha was far bigger and stronger than wolf so when he slammed his paw on the rouge it's ribs broke and it reverted back to human.
Eric regained control before his wolf could kill this one too. He shifted back to his human form and grabbed the guy by his neck, "Who sent you?"
The guy coughed up blood, "Can't tell you."
"Can't or won't?"
"Won't," the guy said then he spit blood in Eric's face.
Eric dugged his fingers deeper in the man's neck, "Tell me who sent you."
"I don't know! We didn't see their face, they wired the money to us."
"So you don't know anything?"
"Yeah!"
Eric eyes grew cold, "Then you're useless to me." With that he snapped the man's neck. He sighed when he realized his car was totaled and he was standing ass naked somewhere covered in blood with an injured shoulder. Shifting back to his wolf he went home.
This was not the way he wanted to start his week off.
