Gilbert's POV

Today it was Monday and Marilla insisted on us going to school, if we actually wanted to stay here at Green Gables... Isn't she the sweetest?

I was peacefully enjoying my dream about saving a princess' life and as I was about to see who the princess was...I heard a knock on my door.

I just turned on the other side and put a pillow on my ears. The person wasn't having it though and they opened the door.

"Gilbert. Wake up or I swear... I'm going to hit you with my new slate." threatened Anne.

Of course it was her.

"Doubt it." I answered.

"You should know better than going against me, Gil." said Anne.

I just stayed quiet, hugging my sheets... Until, they flew away. What was wrong with this girl? I thought as I quietly chuckled.

"Gil... Get up and I'll owe you one." said Anne.

"First tell me what." I answered with a smirk and I was really happy that the pillow was hiding it. Because she would definitely hit me with her slate if she saw my smug smile.

"I'll do your homework for a week."

"Pass. They barely give us homework. I can manage."

"I'll do your laundry."

"Marilla told me that she will take care of that."

"I'll help you make friends."

"I'm too charming. I won't need help."

I chuckled as I imagined her annoyed face.

"Fine. I give up. What do you want?"

I sat up and looked at her.

"I want you to pretend to be my girlfriend."

"Are you crazy?" said Anne as she put her hand on my forehead to check if I had a fever.

"Why not? It will definetely help you gain more popularity and it will help me keep the girls away from me. Until, I finally find one of them that I really like."

"So, you want to use me as your pawn?"

"Pawn? This is not chess, Anne... But, not really. You get popularity and I get a girl I like to date me without all of the other girls going crazy."

"Gil..."

"Just think about it."

I held her hands and gave her a pout.

"I'll tell you by the end of the day."

She was about to go but I held her hands tighter.

"Actually..." I said chuckling awkwardly. "You will need to tell me now, so we can start from day one. If we start tomorrow everybody will be like. 'This came out of nowhere'."
