Gilbert's POV
"Dear Anne,
This is mummy and daddy. If you are reading this, then we are unfortunately dead. I asked for the asylum to give this to you, when you were ten because then you would be old enough to know. You should know that, even the asylum doesn't know about this. Not because we are criminals or something. But, because there is a law for people like your mummy. I will explain why, at the end of my letter.
I hope this gets to either yours or Cole's hands because I really don't trust the asylum.
Anne, you have an older brother. He is older by a year. He is a bit different but we love him nonetheless...
His name is Cole...Cole Shirley. They were thinking of giving him another last name which was MacKenzie. My family's name but we decided not to.
He is a really sweet baby and he has not been much of a trouble. I want you to promise me, that you will stay by his side and that he will stay by yours. Together you are stronger, never forget that. You need to be strong. I hope that you have both been adopted by a family of good people and that there is not hardship.
Have you ever thought of the sun? The sun is a star, which shines during the day on its own. The rest of the stars shine during the night. So, the sun... In order to make the rest of the stars proud. It shines brighter than all of the stars combined. You and Cole will make me proud, I have no doubt of that and me and your daddy will be the stars that will shine for you, when you think that you have run out of happiness. We will be with you no matter what.
Anne, Cole, this is daddy. Your mum has quite the imagination. She always loved to read books and write. I on the other hand, love to draw. I hope you both become even a little bit like us. It will be like we are there with you.
Last but not least, you can't let anyone know that you are siblings. Simply because, redheads are believed to be wicked so they can't have kids and if they actually end up having kids, it should be only one or else there will be trouble. So, Anne you will go by the last name 'Shirley' and Cole you will go by the last name 'MacKenzie'. Cole, son. Never forget that just because you are supposed to be a MacKenzie, you are not a Shirley and you should be proud of it. Anne, darling... Please stop sleeping while hugging a book. Your mummy has been looking for her book for hours and she found you sleeping with it whilst Cole was sleeping with my paintbrush.
I have to admit that it was adorable. Stay smart and only trust people who you love and not older people. So, to catch you up to what is going on. Tonight, we are having dinner with the Blythes. We will talk about their farm and how I can help them. Your mummy will talk with Mrs Blythe about cooking. You will meet their two year old son. Gilbert Blythe. I heard that he is a smart little thing. Maybe, you will become friends.
All the love,
Mummy and daddy"
Anne's eyes watered as she sniffed. I turned and looked at Cole who had red eyes and tears rolling down his cheeks. I could see both of their walls slowly breaking down.
"There is something written in French, but I can't read it..." continued Violet not really caring and Jerry got the letter from her hands.
"L'aventure vous attend."
Jerry nodded in understanding and tuned to look at us. We stared at him waiting for him to translate it for us. Jerry understood that we had no idea what it meant so he proceeded.
"It means 'The adventure is waiting for you.' " said Jerry as he gave Cole the letter.
I hugged Anne by the side and I could hear her heart raising in full speed. It was like she was in her own world. While, she was looking into space.
Cole on the other hand. Read the letter over and over again. Trying to find any detail he might have missed.
Diana and Charlie and Ruby were speechless. Jerry on the other hand was calm about the whole thing.
"Jerry, how are you being so calm about this?" asked Ruby
"I knew all along. While everybody was freaking out after the letter. I picked it up, read it and put it exactly where it was."
"Why didn't you tell me?" asked Ruby.
"It wasn't my secret to tell." shrugged Jerry with a smile.
"T-There is a poem." said Cole as he turned the paper on the other side.
"W-What does it say?" asked Anne.
Cole cleaned his throat and started to read.
"Happiness can be found, in the arms of a loved one.
A voice is singing
A heart is breaking
A dream is failing
A tear is breaking free. There was an adventure
Right outside my door
I looked outside
And saw my home.It was a man
Around sixteen
He gave me a smile
And started to speak. We talked about love
Dreams and stars
He smiled softly at me
And gave me a goodbye hug.We kept on talking everyday
He made sure I was okay
Now, that I look back at this
I realise that my life is complete
Because, he walked inside my world
And kept me warm
My kindred spirit
My lifetime's lifemate.Right now I have two kids
Cole the artist
Anne the wordsmith
They haven't said a word yet
But, just by their smile
I can tell that, they won't let me down.My little angels
We love you
Don't forget
We are the stars, guiding you through,
the storm that's called life.-Written by mummy. We both love you more than anything in this world. Never give up, because you are stronger than that."
Anne was crying or more specifically sobbing. Cole started to sob as he let the letter fall from his hands. He run towards Anne and held her in his arms."I love you." said Anne as she tried to speak, barely being able to breath.
"I love you more." said Cole as he held her tighter and sniffed.
I hope you liked this chapter. I tried to write a poem, which it's the one in this chapter. I hope you liked it. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
