Anne's POV

I was crying on Cole's shoulder and hugged him closer as I felt him start to shake. Nobody, dared to say anything. Not, even Violet.

"I'm so glad I found you." I said as my voice trembled.

"I'm glad you did too." said Cole as he slowly let go of the hug.

"Is everything okay?" I asked, concerned.

"Did you know, from the age of ten?" asked Cole, curiously.

"No. I found out when you did. When, our parents said that the letter shouldn't fall into the wrong hands. I'm sure that they meant, people like Violet as well." I said as I chuckled at Violet's facial expression. She looked offended.

"As lovely as this is... I'm hungry and you did promise to do barbecue." said Jerry as Ruby elbowed him on the stomach.

"Shhh." said Ruby.

"I'm hungry." said Jerry as he pouted, Ruby hugged him from the side and Jerry looked down putting his head on top of hers whilst giving her a kiss on her forehead. Ruby smiled and hugged him tighter, Jerry on the other hand put his hand around her waist and looked down at her with pride.

"I wish I had a relationship like that..." I said, not noticing that I had said it out loud.

The next thing I knew was somebody wrapping their arms around my waist from behind and kissing by forehead. "So, carrots..." I was about to push him away but he tighten his grip. "Are you my girlfriend now?" I blushed and I tried to cover it up by looking at someone else but Cole was smirking at me whilst raising his eyebrow. I gave him a sarcastic smile and he just laughed. I have the most supportive brother, don't I?

"Is that what you want to be, slate face?" I asked, as casually as possible.

"From the day I looked into your grey and a little bit of green eyes. But, of course we had a step back. Why was that my dear flower?" asked Gilbert, excitedly.

"I don't quite recall." I said as I shook my head in fake confusion...Let's hope he won't say anything either... But, that's Gilbert so... He definitely will.

"It's a good thing I do then." said Gilbert proudly... Of course.

"No. I prefer if I say it." I said, knowing that Gilbert would make it more dramatic than me. Which is new.

"Be my guest." smiled Gilbert cheekily.

Flashback Begins

Two years ago:

"Anne... Can I ask you something?" asked a fifteen year old Gilbert.

"What's wrong, Gil?" said Anne, concerned.

"Let's just say we didn't meet under these circumstances. Would you consider becoming my lifemate?" asked Gilbert, hopefully.

"Why do you ask?" said Anne, curiously...

"No reason just bored." answered Gilbert, blushing slightly.

"Well, I guess if we met under different circumstances... I still don't think we would be together." said a thirteen year old Anne and Gilbert's heart shattered the second those words have left her mouth.

"What about the circumstances we are in now?" asked Gilbert again.

"Well, I'm happy we are friends and that's all I want us to be. I don't feel that way about you and luckily you don't feel that way about me." said Anne cluelessly as she jokingly pushed him.

"Yes, of course. I don't know why I thought your answer would be different this time. I'll be going now then..." said Gilbert as he stood up and started to walk away.

"GILBERT." yelled Anne after him, worried.

He turned and looked at her, emotionless as he waiting for her to speak.

"Are we good?" asked Anne as she stood right in front of him.

"Yes." said Gilbert bitterly but with a fake smile and left.

Anne got scared. She thought she had said something so terrible that it leaded on him leaving. She sat back down on the ground as she tried to remember everything that she had said whilst trying to figure out, where she had gone wrong. But, she didn't have any luck...

"ANNE SHIRLEY, GET IN HERE. WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING OUT HERE?" yelled a woman that worked at the asylum. Anne stood up quickly, took a deep breath and went inside.

Flashback Ends

"I was thirteen." I defended myself.

"It wasn't a while ago, love. Now, you're fifteen. Luckily, my patience leaded on me holding you close in my arms." said Gilbert as he looked at me in awe.

"Okay." I said as I looked at him.

"Okay what?" asked Gilbert, shocked.

"I'll give us a chance." I said scared of his reaction, maybe he changed his mind.

But, Gilbert turned me around and hugged me tightly.

"Seven years of waiting for you... I regret nothing. Carrots..." whispered Gilbert.

"I'm sorry." I said as I let go and laid my head on his.

"For what, angel?" asked Gilbert, confused as he looked into my eyes, smiling softly.

"For making you wait for so long..." I said shyly as I locked down.

Gilbert put his finger under my chin, making me look at him and said.

"It's alright. You were worth the wait. I would wait for you for as long as you needed. Because, I know that you and I are meant to be with each other... Until, the very end." said Gilbert as he kissed my forehead.

I shyly turned to look at everyone. But, there was no one. They must of left.

"I think that we need to be sure that we are dating." said Gilbert, with a teasing smile.

"How?" I asked confused.

"With a kiss, of course." said Gilbert, with a proud smile as he noticed my cheeks getting red once again.

"K-Kiss?" I asked, scared.

"We kissed like an hour or so ago. Why are you nervous?" said Gilbert, chuckling.

"This is our first kiss whilst we are in a relationship. Yes, you kissed me in a fake relationship but never in a real one. It needs to be special. There need to be sparks and butterflies and all those things that I read in the books..."

"You are something else, Shirley." said Gilbert as he leaned in.

I started to lean in as well and this time I was the one who connected our lips. Sparks weren't the right word to describe what I felt. It was more like 'fireworks'.
