Anne's POV

I woke up on the ground. I must of blacked out while I was crying. I didn't feel any better but my sad feelings had been replaced by angry ones.

I quickly got ready and walked outside of my bedroom. I unconsciously went towards Gilbert's door to wake him up. But, as soon as I raised my hand to open the door, I pulled it back, shook my head and wiped away the tear that had fallen down my cheek.

Maybe it was better this way. I mean Gilbert can have anybody for his friend, he just has to say a name. Everybody likes him. Maybe, I should do him a favor and stop talking to him altogether.

I quietly sat on a chair, waiting for Marilla to bring the bread.

"Anne. Sweetheart, are you alright?" asked Marilla, concerned.

"Gilbert?" I asked, looking up at Marilla.

"I didn't say Gilbert." said Marilla with a knowing smile.

"Nice... Neither did I." I said, nodding and looking down.

"What happened yesterday?" asked Matthew as he entered the room.

"I went to check on both of you and you were both asleep with tears on your cheeks."

"We fought." I said.

Then, the door opened to reveal Mrs Lynde.

"I heard the word fight. It's everything okay? Do you want to talk about it?"

Yeah, sure. Let's talk with the biggest gossip person in the whole village. That's smart.

"No, I'm fine." I said as I gave her a fake smile.

The next thing I heard was somebody coming down the stairs.

"Good morning Marilla, Matthew and Mrs Lynde." said Gilbert and sat down as far away from me as possible.

Is he ignoring me?

"Good morning." said Matthew, Mrs Lynde and Marilla at the same time.

Gilbert nodded and started to eat.
Hey, I'm supposed to be ignoring him.
Not, the other way around.

I stood up, walked towards the door and as I was about to open the door... Mrs Lynde spoke.

"Why don't you two go together?"

Me and Gilbert finally made eye contact and we said at the same time.

"Pass." and I walked out.

"Anne." said Jerry as he approached me.

"Hey Jerry." I said in a dull voice.

"Are you okay?"

"I've been better."

"Why aren't you with Gilbert? "
