“Ah, so you know who I am?” Raye inquired, their hands still clasped together and the grip along with the glistening Brie saw in her hazel eyes made her panic. It showed on Raye's delectable face too that she knew how anxious her guest was, she couldn't hide her smugness.

“I… have to go,” Brie hummed. She pulled her hand from Raye's while stepping back. Fear trickled through her at the thought of being in the presence of not just any mafia member but The Boss. How was that even possible?

“Why, you just got here?”

“The mafia?” Brie struck up. “I should've known it was you, but it never crossed my mind that…”

Raye chuckled. “There's no way you couldn't have known, if you had you would've recognized me or had an inkling since that night but you didn't,”

“You're right, I couldn't. You're a girl, which, no disrespect or anything, I love what you've acquired for yourself but how are you the leader of the mafia?”

“What, you don't believe women are capable of being in leadership roles, is that what you're insinuating?” Raye questioned, eyeing Brie intently.

"No, that's not what I mean. It's just that…it's the mafia, a notorious gang. If anyone had asked me to describe what I thought the person Raye looked like, I would've said an Italian man in his mid to late fifties. I was expecting the leader to be a man not because I don't think women can't suit the role, but because it's what society pushes as the norm. Plus, men fear men more than women, so not once would my mind have suggested you,"

"That's a lot to unpack there sweetheart but I want you to know this.” said the slender figure. “In this line of business, I'm just as venerated as any of my predecessors, I've made sure of it.”

“How, you're so young and pretty, I'd never have guessed..” Brie muttered and most of what came out were not meant to be said but it came out anyway and it made Raye struggle to keep a straight face.

“I get what all this is about. You think pretty girls can't be dangerous, is that it? Were you expecting this Raye to be some ugly-looking person, would you have been afraid then?”

“No, it's just that you exude an aura opposite to that of a dangerous person. You being pretty just softened you a bit, in my opinion, and it'll catch someone off guard, is all I'm saying,” Brie managed to explain but again digressed when Raye chuckled. “I can't believe I helped you still,”

“I do and that's why I'm grateful but it seems as though you don't want me to be appreciative because you have these preconceived notions of who I am and what I do without truly knowing anything,” She replied and her words convicted the dark headed figure enough for her to realize that she was being somewhat prejudice although with reason.

“I'm sorry, it's just that word about what you do flies far and wide. You got hurt because of the violence too, you can't deny it,”

“I did get hurt because of violent people but that aside, sometimes our network of communication can cause a lot of inaccuracies due to its vastness. I'm sure the rumours by now must've painted the picture that it was my fault or that I deserved it because of my affiliation,”

“So Brie, now that you know I'm not exactly a thief and what I do for a living is run several chains of businesses, would you accept my offering, please?” Raye asked.

It was hard to say no, thought Brie and not because she suddenly realized she needed the money but due to how convincing Raye was. There was a charm around her that became more and more apparent as they spoke; it was subtle but it was there.
