The next day I tried putting the entire thing behind me in the hopes that I could move on from it. I even spoke to Raye before heading out to work and the relieved look on her face was more than what I'd ever asked for.

"I'm sorry about last night," I said, going up to her while she made her breakfast. She seemed startled at first by my advance but soon that expression had changed to compassion.
Within seconds she'd dropped what she was doing and had wrapped her arms around me.

"No, I'm the one who's sorry. I was hard on you when I should've just been understanding. This isn't your life but mine, yet you've gotten caught up in it and it sucks pretty badly."

"Yes but I'm still sorry. I should've thought about going out before I did.
You were right, everything you said last night made sense. I was impulsive and that could've caused something even worse to happen,"

I had intentions of ranting on and on but Raye stopped me. She shushed me by engulfing my lips into a passionate kiss, thrusting her tongue into my mouth, showing her possession and dominance which I enjoyed.

"Brienna," she moaned and the sound was angelic. I was hypnotized by the way she kissed me that I wasn't even aware she'd started sneaking her hand up my scrub.
I felt her fingers toying with my nipple and the surge of energy it aroused within me made me fully aware of what she was doing.

"I can't, I can't. I'm sorry. I have to be at work in an hour or so, this is just going to make me late."

"I don't care," She whispered dragging her lips and tongue against the flesh of my neck. Her grip around my waist as she kept me in place was strong. I didn't want her to let me go, I just didn't.

"Raye, I'm not kidding." I giggled and she laughed at the fact that I was getting squirmish due to her touches.

"I know baby. I can't wait for you to get back home."

"Me either," I responded as our foreheads touched. It didn't matter how many times Raye and I argued we always seemed to move past the differences in no time and I was grateful she wasn't the type to hold grudges when it came to her more private affairs, neither of us was.

"Get back home to me safely alright." She kissed my cheek and it brought back memories about the first time she did it. She had taken me home after our first date together and had done it unannounced and I swear to this day it still makes me blush.

We stood in each other's embrace just hugging and cuddling for some time before I finally left for work. By the time I got to the hospital, I was in a better mood than the night before.
I felt like Raye and I had a chance at making this work between us only if we made it, and that was enough to get me feeling energized. I was for a while after clocking in, but as soon as I saw Mia striding up to me, my optimism disappeared.

She had approached me with two men I knew to be detectives. One man had the same brown complexion she did, and he dressed neatly in a white button-down shirt with sleeves rolled up to his elbows. The shirt was tucked neatly into his trousers while a black-tie sat perfectly around his neck, adding to his professional look.
His partner was also dressed similarly but he wasn't of the same brown skin tone and flexuous hair, but tan with raven black hair greying at the temples.

"Good morning Ms Paulson," Said the one with the greying hair. I quickly glanced at Mia to see what could've been going on inside her head but her eyes were inanimate.

"Good morning, h-how can I help you?"

"I'm detective Firestone and my partner here Duke and I are just paying those who were at the club last night and was close enough to see what took place a visit. We were notified of the incident that broke out of course, and decided to come talk you, girls," he spoke again.
