Two weeks went by since I last saw Raye, work kept her busy she said, and she made it her duty to give valid reasons as to why we weren't going on more dates and meeting often. It wasn't a big deal for me and I told her, but she was adamant about letting me know everything she did, leaving no room for assuming things. That level of maturity wasn't something I was used to but it left me thinking highly of her. She made all the girls I ever dated look like they had no idea what they were doing in terms of getting to know a person. It was something I loved about her, the honesty. The raw honesty that most people failed to possess in their character, Raye had it.

Never had I encountered a girl who tried so hard in getting to know me. I was usually the one who did the chasing in all of my relationships and well, this one felt different. The same effort I gave, Raye matched it and it was more than enough to keep me smiling, continuously.

A day off from work, during the workweek, because my shift at the hospital changed, yet again I relaxed continuing to binge watch FRIENDS. I ordered Pizza for dinner only because I didn't feel up to cooking. Working crazy hours usually drains your energy and even on your days off it never fully replenish and that was my circumstance at that point.

On the couch, my legs spread out before me, my gaze fixed to my television I heard my phone go off beside me. Quickly snatching it up a huge smile appeared on my face at the bold letters. "Hi," I answered, springing up from my seat with newfound energy pulsating through me.

"Hey, how's it going?" Raye asked and just the familiar tone of her voice had my body me squirming.

"Uhh- fine, everything's going fine. How are you?" I asked and she chuckled.

"You sound cute whenever you stutter do you know that?"

"I don't. " I was nervous yet excited and I could tell she was smirking on the other end of the line—I knew some of her habits by heart now.

"You do now,"

"Yes, I do. How's being a gangster going?" I questioned, cringing at my awkwardness but to my delight, she hummed before answering me.

"Work's been, stressful but I'll live. It's why I called,"

"Really, what's wrong?"

"Nothing it's just that I'm free at the moment and I was wondering if you'd maybe like to come hang out with me for the night?" Raye pitched and I answered before the question even simmered in my mind. "I'd love too."

"Really?"

"Yes, why?"

"I don't know, I thought you were going to say no because you have work, ya know?" Raye spoke and it clicked that I had work early the next morning.

"Shit! I forgot about that." I groaned. Spending the night with her would've been blissful.

"Is spending the night such an interesting thing?" She asked and I bit my knuckles to keep from groaning my displeasure. Work, really?

"To be honest yes. I always have such a good time around you, I jumped at the opportunity to spend the night with you."

There were a few seconds of silence.

"Well, what if you stayed here with me just for tonight and I could have one of my guys take you to work so they'd be no issue in you getting there?" She questioned and I thought about her proposition. I looked at my watch and took regards the time. It was 7:10 pm and it wasn't that late after all, so my decision came easy. "The only downside to all of this is that I have no idea where you live," I said.

"That's something you don't have to worry about, I'll have someone come get you as long as you're comfortable with the idea. " Raye announced and my stomach somersaulted. The thought of spending the night with her was a huge step in my eyes. It elicited many emotions inside of me. To be alone with her, in an intimate environment was something I never thought would happen.

"Yeah no problem, I'm comfortable with the idea."

"Great. Expect a guy by the name of Jimmy at your door in about an hour." Raye said and I heard a change in her tone and I could tell she was excited too. "Okay, I'll see you there then."

"I'll be waiting. Bye Brienna."

"Bye," I replied and the call ended. I hurried off into the direction of my bathroom to take a quick shower before I packed what I needed for my sleepover with Raye.

Once I finished with my shower, I tried my best to tame my wild mass of hair. I needed not to turn up at Raye's place looking like a complete mess. It took me several painstaking minutes but I was able to tame some of my curls and then moved on to packing the necessary bits of clothing and stuff I'd need for my night out in a bag. I was done five minutes before I heard a knock on my door. "Who is it?" I asked peeping through the hole in my door, I saw a guy staring right back at me.

"Jimmy, the boss, Raye, told me to come get you." He replied, his accent was thick. I didn't hesitate to open the door and was greeted with the sight of this huge man who had a very familiar face.

"Give me a few while I go get my things will you?" I asked and he nods.
I ran off to go get my things, making sure that all the electricals were either switched off or plugged out before heading back to the door to meet Jimmy. We said nothing to each other during our ride to Raye's and I enjoyed it. He asked no questions so I had no answers to give, the best kind of car ride with a stranger one could ever have.

The ride took a little longer than the last time I thought. I realized that the neighbourhood was somewhat familiar, but the traffic was a lot harsher.

"Come this way." Jimmy finally addressed me. He led me to another section of the apartment building. What gave it away that Raye lived in the building was the heavy presence of men who gave off the vibe Jimmy did. They were all over the place, and a few of them even gave me sly looks along the way.

"Right there," Jimmy motioned and I looked in the direction and then brought my attention back to him. "Do I just go in?" I asked.

"You could knock before you go in but the boss is expecting you either way," he replied. He stood off to the side watching me with his dark eyes until I decided to walked over to the door he motioned to. I knocked twice before turning the knob and entering. I was greeted with a hum of rock music playing away softly in the background. Everything about the setting of the apartment made sense that it belonged to Raye. The decor was of a somewhat dark colour, the furniture was leather and paintings were depicting bloody battles on the wall and I couldn't help but stare at them.

"You like my paintings?" I heard her voice from behind me and I flinched.

"God, you need to stop doing that," I replied, pretty much as a squeak while clutching my chest. Raye laughed at me as I tried to gather myself. I couldn't help but check her out when she slowly made her way over. She wore a tank top that exposed her chest in a very delicate way that I liked. Her toned arms were also exposed, revealing once more that she wasn't a frail, emaciated person but strong.  She wore shorts that exposed her muscley legs and thighs and a few small tattoos laid on her skin, ones I'd never seen before.

"Like what you see?" She whispered and I could tell I made it obvious that I was staring. Trying to play it off afterwards, I switched the subject just because I didn't think I could've handled what came with flirting with her. "Your apartment is pretty nice," I said and she moved closer to stand directly in front of me.

"Is that really what you wanted to say Brienna?" She smirked at me and I blushed. "Kinda,"

"Kinda? Well, do you kinda feel like sharing what you wanted to say? " Raye questioned tilting her head and I swore I felt a zing run through me the longer she stared at me. "Your tattoos, they um, are pretty cool and they look make you look, hot," I replied and she grinned before walking off.

"Come, I'll show you to your room," Raye said leading the way and I followed behind with the most amazing view in front of me.
