Sometime in the future and I don't know, maybe a little over a year.

"I swear to you, working at this hospital is not like working with you guys. The staff isn't as fun and open-minded. I have way more people who look at me weird than Natalie, and I know if Mia was there she'd want to fight all of them. "

"Who looks at you weird?" Christopher perked up, his face strictly defined by his concerns and I swelled with pride knowing he had my back, no matter the cost.

"I don't mean to be that bitch among us, but that's what you get for leaving. You should've stayed with us," Mia stated and we all laughed at her words.

She was right, I should've stayed but I didn't want too. At the time I left things were out of hand and I just needed the escape, but if I could alter time and go back to when I handed in my resignation letter I wouldn't.

There's not a day that goes by where I won't think of my friends and working in an environment that I was comfortable in.
Sure, I was comfortable now, but not as much as I would've been among people I was familiar with. I was fine with my decisions nonetheless, hence I never make a big deal out of it.

"I mean, but Brie's reason has been justified we all know that now, right?
If myself or any one of us were in your shoes we would've done the same.
Like I tried dating a thug once and that did not work, my guy had me changing the lock on everything even my phone." Ava replied and we all laughed again.
Christopher was hitting the table as his voice rose up in octaves, the joke settled over him more than it did the rest of us.

"Wait you dated a thug? Where, when, how?" Mia asked perking her perfectly done brows up. The rest of us then cast our curious glances at Ava and she turned away, pretending to ignore us as if we weren't there.

"Oh no honey, you don't get to do that. We're all sharing at this table, so start spilling before I strangle each little anecdote out of you."

Christopher couldn't control his bubbling chuckles again.
The way Mia was working Ava up had us all eager to hear what came next.

As the two of them worked back and forth among each other on getting Ava to share the story, I nestled into my seat taking sips from my drink. My eyes started wandering about the little bar as a normalized habit now.

Across from our table sat a group of girls and one of them had her eyes pinned to our table. When she saw that I was looking her way, a very obvious and seductive smile played at her lips and I reciprocated it, mine wasn't as intense as hers though. She then blushed visibly to my response and I turned away, focusing yet again on my friends at the right time to hear Ava about to start telling her story.

"Okay fine, I'll share."

"Good, good and don't leave out any of the juicy parts too," Mia added and I shook my head.

"It was about three years ago, and I had just moved from my parent's place- as you can remember. I got my own and first day in the neighbourhood I saw this guy. He was fine, caught my eyes the first time and I didn't think he noticed me but he did.

The first encounter we had was in the staircase of my apartment building. It had turned out that his aunt lived on the same floor that I did and he was about to visit her while I was heading out to work. He stopped me and we spoke for a bit. It ended with me giving him my number and one thing lead to another after then.

We'd go out and watch movies, then go back to my place to have really nasty sex but it all got worse from there.
He'd get arrested for doing petty crimes about the area.
A few of his friends would come around my apartment and after a while I just got scared. I broke it off with him and he was not happy about it.
I had to change the locks on my door until eventually, I moved out."
