"I didn't know that my friends had no idea who you were. I thought everyone knew and I was the only oblivious one."
"Most people know who I am, some don't either. I don't see what the big fuss is about Brie if you have second thoughts about me meeting your other friends and family I won't push it, just so you know." Raye said, still holding me and I looked away.
She was right, I didn't have too if I didn't want her to meet my family but I did. I thought of it as unfair to have her not meet the ones closest to me while I was acquainted with her relatives and friends.
As long as we were together I would always think of that.
"But I want too. I want you to have the opportunity to be around the ones that I love. I want them to meet you, especially my mom. I want her to see that I'm with someone who has my best interest at heart. I want her to see just how lucky I feel to have you."
I replied and Raye blushed at my words. It wasn't often I got to see her like that but whenever I did, it was spectacular and I loved it."You certainly have a way with words, and it's cute."
She placed a kiss on my forehead."Come on, let's go, we got some food to eat before it gets cold."
"You realize I was just in there right?"
"Yeah but we're still going to eat this together, I don't care." She scoffed and I laughed.
Just as we were walking back to her car, my hand in hers I saw her slow her pace a bit as a vehicle slowly approached up ahead. It was black and tinted and immediately I felt a change in the air which caused shivers to run scatter up my spine. Raye's entire demeanour had changed right before my eyes at this point. She appeared tense.
Quickly she reached behind to retrieve something from within her clothing and only when she was done did I see what it was. She had reached for a gun, and I froze staring at it.
"Get inside the car," She whispered and I did. She was walking beside me, blocking my line of view from whoever had stopped dead in the road, just waiting. She did it so casually, so effortlessly and it made me scared.
I knew she did whatever it was that she did, but I've never seen someone act as calm as she did with a gun in their hand.
Maybe because I had never seen an actual criminal with a gun before, but it was an experience.
Although I had seen her with a gun, pointing it at me, it was different now.
She wasn't nervous, or unsure as the first time we had met. The fearlessness about her body language frightened me.As soon as we were inside of Raye's car she sped off, leaving me unable to say anything.
"Are you okay?" She asked and I took a while before I answered.
I was still contemplating the whole thing."Yeah, I'm fine."
"Are you scared, do you have questions?" she pressed and I shook my head.
"Brie I'm sorry that you got scared, I knew you did. Sometimes things like that happen when I'm out, and it's why I usually try not to have you around. Tonight was just unforeseen as you said." Raye continued.
"I understand,"
"Do you?"
"Yes. I do."
"Please just say something?" She begged and I gave in.
"Who was that?"
"I don't know and it's the truth. Could've been anyone because I have a lot of enemies."
"I see."
"But I will find out, I have that kind of power." She said and I didn't say another word after that. She took us both to my apartment and once we were inside she went right to talking on her phone.
This time her conversation wasn't hidden from me as it usually would be in Italian. She spoke freely within my presence and it took a lot for her to do that I guessed.
At first, she wasn't so comfortable around me to have her conversations in English, but after a while, I guessed she realized I wasn't exactly the one for her to fear and it was the truth.I knew so many things now about Raye that could get her incarcerated but yet I disregarded each and every one of them simply because I loved this human being. I loved her so much that I was willing to put up with everything just to have her and I guessed she too figured it out.
There are very few people to trust in this life so when you find someone who you can, it's better to keep them around than get rid of them. It's even better when that person loves you.

Mia and Ava, sat staring dumbfounded at Raye. They sat across from her, in an unexpected state while I looked on; Raye was also loving every bit of it now.
For a few days, I had drilled her into having me introduce her to my friends until she agreed. Unexpectedly to both girls, I asked them to come over to hang out at my apartment only to surprise them with Raye.
"Oh my God!" Ava had exclaimed when Raye had started introducing herself.
Mia kept her admirations to herself and only until we slipped away together did they say more."Where the hell did you get her from and can I have one?" Ava asked and I laughed.
"I'm sorry but she's one of a kind."
"Brie! girl, I thought your last girlfriend was hot but that whole ass candy you got out there. I'm not gay but I wouldn't mind having myself one of those," Mia said and I laughed.
"So you guys like her?"
"Yes!" Said Mia.
"She's different and I like it. She seems very strong-willed, confident but sweet. I'm glad that you found her." Ava said and I smiled.
"I'm glad that I found her too,"
"Have you introduced her to your family as yet?" Mia questioned and I studied them both.
I knew the question would've popped up and I was preparing myself for it. I have been for a while now."I haven't, not as yet."
"Why not? Your parents would love her." She adds and I swallowed hard.
I knew what introducing Raye to my family and friends meant. It meant that at some point I would have to at least explain to a few of them what she did, but I was afraid too.
I didn't want to scare anyone, at least not my family and it's why I kept postponing that introduction."There are some things about Raye that they wouldn't quite tolerate," I said truthfully.
"Like what? I mean, she's decent and ambitious, what could be so bad about her?" Ava questioned but I couldn't bring myself to tell them. I couldn't.
I made up a lie on the spot and then immediately changed the topic. If they hadn't a clue who she was and what she did, I wasn't going to tell them because you never could tell, maybe they might be the ones to disapprove and condemn our relationship.
Life often works like that.
