Was there a genuine cause for such a reaction?

I questioned while Jimmy drove Mia home. We were both so quiet about the incident back at the club that she didn't even question me on who this strange man driving her home was, she just sat there with me. I for one questioned why Jimmy had reacted in such a way when clearly the matter could've been dealt with better.

When he'd dropped Mia off to the address she'd given, he and I were alone inside of the car when I probed to find my answers.

"Jimmy," I called out and he didn't acknowledge that he heard me or not so I continued despite he didn't budge.

"What happened back there?"

"Exactly what you saw happened,"

"Why?"

"Because you weren't safe,"

"How did you know that?" I snapped and only then did he adjust his rearview mirror to study my face.

"You were around some very dangerous men doll, dangerous men that you didn't even know. Anyway, this ain't my job to tell you anything," Jimmy answered and for the remainder of our ride to Raye's we didn't say anything else.

Standing outside as we pulled up to the building was the infamous criminal herself. Largely to my surprise, she was huddled in a corner smoking a cigarette as casually as one could.

When she saw the car approach she started walking up towards it. At this point I noticed her looking on with a squint. She threw the cigarette unto the cobbled ground and crushed it out with her right foot.

Once the vehicle had stopped, I climbed out and walked over to her. Raye's face was totally illegible but I knew she was angry so I opted to head inside after we'd exchange glares. Behind I heard her voice as she spoke to Jimmy.
I already knew what their conversation was about and I wasn't in the mood to listen to it again, it's why I left.

Somethings needing clarifying among Mia and me, she needed to know that what happened wasn't anything to worry about, especially with us being rescued by a strange man in her eyes.
So as soon as I entered the house, I rang her up and she answered sounding both relieved and curious.

"Oh thank God, I thought something happened."

"Goodness no, I'm fine."

"I hope so. What the fuck happened tonight at the club and who was that guy that took us home?"

"His name is Jimmy and he works for Rachel," I admitted with a sigh knowing that this was the time to let the cats out of the bag. I was going to enlighten Mia on who and what Raye did.
I had to or else the entire incident tonight would seem obscure and anything I said about it would be just the same.

"He works for your girlfriend?"

"Yes, that's correct."

"What exactly does she do?"

"Remember when told you guys that there are some things about her that my family wouldn't exactly tolerate?"

"Vaguely, but yes," Mia replied and I could hear within her tone that she was confused.

"Well, "  I sighed trailing off.

"She's involved in a lot of illegal stuff and she's very important. The guy you saw tonight that took you home works for her and he's also kinda like my own personal bodyguard." I tried to put it over in a context she'd be able to grasp and thankfully she understood.

"Let me get this straight. So you're dating a criminal and you've only told me this now?"

"Yes and I'm sorry. I didn't want you guys to look at me differently because I was with her. The only one who knew before you is Chris."
