Hera
It was my mother's birthday today. On this day, the fifth of August, Queen Claudia King was born. Every year we spent it differently, the last year we celebrated her birthday was the year before my father died. The next year, my mother left without a trace.
It had been five years now and each year became more and more of a burden for the family than it should. There had been a lot of changes ever since, some good, some bad.
Zeus had become a workaholic with no time for anything except his family, I admired his love for Hilary and his two sons. Hilary had given birth to another son so her and my brother shared two extremely cute boys, Mason and Jason.
Athena and Jermaine got married a year ago and she was pregnant and moodier than before. I remembered Jeremy calling four months after my mother left, Athena laughed at him while hanging up.
I had graduated from Harvard a year ago and had now been working alongside Zeus in the business as the COO.
Poseidon had been playing with the Lakers ever since he got his scholarship. He now played professional basketball and already had a girlfriend, a famous model from New York, Lexi May.
Mary was now doing her junior year in the University of Sydney, back home with her family. Blade and Bhavani were married and had adopted a Indian girl and a Somalian girl as their daughters, Tanu and Bani. Lizzy had already flourished in her modelling career, but still made time for her family.
Bullet and Charmoné were still close by, living with their little girl Kaylie. She was cuter than any child I had ever seen before.
So far, life was great for everyone, except me. Without my mother in my life, I felt an empty space within me. Something inside of me needed someone to come and fill it, I was sure that it wasn't loneliness, but I was also sure that I wasn't fulfillment. My mother meant so much to me and without her, I was just incomplete.
"Hey." I looked up at the owner of the voice and faced a now brunette Hilary in blue denim jeans and an orange V-neck t-shirt.
"Hi. Come in." I signalled to her and she came towards me and bent down in front of me.
"Zeus called. You left work early today." She said softly to me.
"Yeah, it's Ma's birthday today." I said in a whisper.
Hilary placed her hand on my head and traced her fingers through my now long, straight and brown hair, tied up in a tight ponytail.
"Why are you still dressed in that office wear then? You look bland and boring." She joked and I chuckled lightly.
"I just got here."
"Then let's go." She got back onto her feet and walked behind me to the handles of my wheelchair. "Let's go out. Just you and me."
"What? No." I exclaimed in shock of the sudden plans. I just wanted to relax for the day, but Hilary seemed to have other plans.
"Oh yes. You have couped yourself up in your office for far too long, dear angel, you've started to lose your shine."
"What shine?" I asked.
