Blade
We all rushed to the hospital. Tanu, Bani, Zeus, Bhavani, Athena, Hilary with Mason and Jason, Poseidon and Lexi. Bullet wasn't with us because he was already on his way to Australia to get the rest of the family, Sarah, Charlene, Cynthia and her son, Alex, Ayurv, Noah, Daniel, Demi, Mary and Claudia Jr.
Once we reached the hospital, we bumped into Damien who was holding two cups of coffee and a muffin in his hands. He froze as I glared at him.
"Follow me." He said in complete fear and the whole family didn't even hesitate. A doctor tried to stop us but we were already ahead of him, storming into the huge hospital room and watching Bryson holding her hand and Estelle caressing her forehead.
"What are you doing here?" I asked Estelle coldly. Me and her just never got along. Bullet tolerated her but I just never bothered.
"She's my niece." She answered with venom on her tongue. Her eyes squinted and her eyebrows furrowed, she looked like Charles when she did that.
"You never cared about her when she lost her legs. Or when she lost her grandfather Matthew or when her grandmother and aunts were stolen from her by your father and brother..."
"... the same brother who died in a fire that could've been prevented. The same brother who that witch Claudia hid away from the world..."
"... to keep him safe!"
"Bullshit." Estelle challenged me, standing up from her seat and twitching her flared nostrils.
"It's true. Charles was a fugitive. Claudia hid him away to keep him from jail."
"Then why did she keep him away from his own family? It's not like any of us were going to tell anyone because that would only risk him."
"That's not for me to answer."
"Exactly. That Claudia only caused more problems. That's all she ever does..."
"... that's enough!" Zeus reprimanded his aunt.
"So you also knew that Charles was alive?" She asked him patronisingly.
"No. I just don't..."
"... then shut up. What you have to say isn't important." She disrupted him bluntly and put him back into place.
"Aunt Estelle. They were our parents." Athena spoke up with a shaky voice. I felt bad for her because not only did she lose her parents but her husband was also away.
"And my brother! The only family I had left! Both my eldest brother and my mother killed themselves from depression and anxiety. Claudia killed my father. Charles was all I had left!" Estelle screamed with tears in her eyes and I now understood how she felt. Lonely.
"Then why are you here? You have no family left." I asked her, wanting to know her true intentions of her being here.
"Why are you here with Hera?" Zeus asked her.
"I cannot let the King family die out. I also cannot let my brother down by denying his children as my own. No matter how hard it hurts me to admit it, regardless of the fact that your mother was that bitch, your father was my brother. Making you my family. I may seem weak and stupid but I am more than that. I am my father's daughter. Luther King didn't raise fools. I will protect you with my life."
"What?" Poseidon asked in confusion.
"I will not protect you because I feel bad but because you are still my family. I know that I haven't been the best aunt in the world but that doesn't mean that I can't change. I will never be able to accept your mother but I will most definitely accept you. You are all Kings. We are blood."
"But Claudia is our mother." Athena whispered.
"I don't care about that."
"Estelle..." I tried to pursue her even more but she was a journalist, so she could sniff inquisitiveness from miles away.
"... it's either you stay here with me by Hera's side or you fuck out of here because I'm not going anywhere." She said bluntly, putting us all in our places.
"I'm staying." Zeus said with his wife and boys by his side.
"Me too." Poseidon said with Brie by his side.
"You are my aunt, after all." Athena also agreed with Bhavani, Tanu and Bani. Leaving only me.
I had to swallow my pride now. This wasn't about me and my bad blood with Estelle King, this was about a common pain amongst us. The death of the two alphas of King family. Queen Claudia King and Charles King. For them, I'd tolerate Estelle.
"I'll stay." I answered gruffly and we all gathered around Hera. Bryson was quiet the whole time, but for some reason I could see on his face that he was actually worried about Hera.
Hera was pale, weak and heartbreaking to look at. Her lips were chapped, her eyes closed shut and her breathing was almost unnoticeable. From her straight hair, I could see strands of its natural curliness sticking out from her roots.
None of Claudia's children's hair was natural. Zeus kept it short. Athena played around with it. Hera kept it long, straight and brown and Poseidon dyed it.
"How is she?" Athena asked in uncontrollable tears.
"She's stable, but not conscience." Estelle answered almost immediately. She sounded like she had everything under control.
"When did this happen?" Zeus asked.
"About two hours ago. I showed her the article about her parents' death and she fainted almost immediately, scaring the both of us to death."
"How are you feeling, bruh?" Poseidon asked Bryson and after a while, he finally spoke.
"She'll get better. She has to." He answered with such an emotionless tone, it reminded me of Claudia and how dangerous she became when she was emotionless. I couldn't even begin to imagine what Bryson was capable of while seeing his fiancée on her potential death bed.
"And Claudia? Is she actually gone?" Brie asked, with tears also in her eyes.
"Yes." I answered.
I looked around the room at everyone who was family with the now deceased. Athena was crying uncontrollably in Hilary's arms and Zeus held his sons close to his chest to give himself some comfort. He was obviously trying his hardest not to cry.
Poseidon, though he looked calm, was gripping tightly onto his girlfriend's hand on her lap and Lexiwas in tears while her head was laying on his shoulder.
Bani and Tanu were holding onto their mother, my wife Bhavani, who was keeping a really strong façade up. I knew that immediately once we reached the car, she'd cry herself to sleep for weeks on end.
All of these people knew and loved Claudia and Charles. There were still more to come. More to come to terms with the fact that the King and Queen were gone.
For good.
