Blade
Sitting at the dinner table nervously, we all waited for Maureen so that we could eat. This was our first and only meal of the day and that was how it had been since Estelle, Poseidon, Mason, Jason, Athena and Jermaine had left.
I looked at Bhavani and saw the hopelessness in her eyes. We were all out of hope. No-one could save us now. Hera was gone forever. Claudia and Charles were dead. Even Estelle had abandoned us. We were defenceless and under Maureen's mercy.
Everyday was a miracle for us. We weren't sure who she'd strike next and we didn't want to wait for the future to find out.
We also couldn't escape because the security was too tight and myself and Bullet were too weak. Bullet hardly ever spoke and my voice was now permanently husky and dry, no matter how much liquid I drank to soothe it. Everyone lost a lot of weight and Tanu looked a bit too sick. We were all sick and tired of how we had been forced to live for the past three months, but there was nothing we could do because we were too scared.
Maureen walked in pridefully and took a seat at the table. The same seat that Claudia always sat on.
Claudia would've killed me for being so weak but she also would've understood. She may have been heartless at times, but she understood fully well the true meaning of weakness. She would've punished me for being weak and then comforted me for keeping myself and my family alive.
"Don't we greet in this house?" Maureen asked us patronisingly and Damien coughed uncomfortably, stealing looks at Lizzy again.
He had been doing this ever since she had arrived and it was blood boiling. His aunt may have taken over our entire home, business and lives, but I was still my daughter's protector. If he tried anything funny, I'd have nothing holding me back.
"Huh, Bullet? Blade? Bhavani? You don't greet me? You hate me too?" Maureen smiled. "It's nothing to me because I already have the entire world against me. Your hate means nothing." She giggled.
Maureen laughed by herself as we all looked at her with pure disgust. She truly was an insane woman, laughing with herself like that.
"Anyway... I still want to get into that Mafia. So let's do it like this..." Maureen stood up and grabbed the person nearest to her by his collar and placed a knife on his neck, making us all stand up in fear. "... tell me how to get into the Mafia and I won't slit this boy's throat. And he looks a bit young, doesn't he?"
"Stop!" Mary screamed to save her older brother Noah's life suddenly pulled out a gun from out of nowhere.
Bang!
Maureen fell to the floor and there was blood everywhere as Noah ran from her grip to Sarah's side. The guards all raced in and helped her back up. Mary shot Maureen in her left arm and it was bleeding horribly.
"Little bitch!" Maureen tried to charge at Mary but was stopped by the entrance of two men.
We all froze in disbelief as they both walked in side by side with large weapons in hand. Like father, like son-in-law.
Bryson had a new haircut and had a thicker beard, making him look more dangerous. He looked at Damien and nodded his head discreetly.
Next to him was a walking corpse, except he looked perfectly healthy and eager to blow Maureen's brains out. His face was angry as hell, as usual, but his eyes were screaming for some fun with Maureen. It was the King himself, Charles King.
"You're alive?" Bullet asked in shock and Bhavani began hyperventilating with tears in her eyes.
Hera walked in too, shocking all of us. For eleven years she had been on a wheelchair but now, she was walking with her own two legs and a blindingly large diamond on her left ring finger.
Alfonsi walked in too and Maureen looked mortified from their presence. But that was all of them. Claudia didn't walk in too. Was she actually gone?
"Charles." Maureen whispered in disbelief and he aimed his gun at her. The guards surrounding her all backed away and Charles placed his finger gently on the trigger.
"Charles, stop it. She's mine." That oh-so-familiar voice resounded and we all stopped breathing.
The voice that was always so emotionless. The voice that ended lives, that caused pain, that made so many bow down, that made so many fall hard. The voice of a woman so lethal and dangerous, her mere appearance made people wish they were never born.
The woman who was once sweet and childish, but threw that life behind her the moment she got a taste of power. True power. And money. And danger.
The woman that never missed a shot. She never had and I was sure that even in her future lifetime, she never would. This woman that didn't even need weapons. She was capable of clawing someone's eyes out if she wanted to. I'd seen it first hand.
The same woman that killed her father-in-law. Destroyed her mother-in-law. And gained the ultimate hate of her sister-in-law. The same woman that defied death by running through a cross fire. The same woman that pledged her loyalty to the Mafia and chose to go to death than to compromise the empire. The same woman who would've killed me if she were to see me weak and in tears, but I couldn't help it as she entered the room in her might and glory.
Tall. Dark-skinned. Well-figured and had a beautiful and eye-catching face. Her face was its usual emotionless. Her hair was back to its long, black and silky glory. She was dressed in a black, tight-fitting, long-sleeve, off-shoulder designer dress, black stilettoes and a thick, brown fur. In her own flesh, bone and blood.
Queen Claudia King.
