Hera

Bryson looked handsome beyond measures. His white suit was a bit tight on him, not too much, and it gave me a vague view of just how well-built he was. It had me thinking about how all of the men in my life, except Poseidon, were buff and well-built. Poseidon was still scrawny and tall, like a toothpick.

"How is your mother?" I asked him while in his AMG on the way to our date. He looked at me for a second and then looked back at the road, all the while with his usual emotionless face.

"She's fine." He said bluntly, letting me know that he didn't want to speak about her. I felt bad now because I felt like I had started the date off on the wrong foot. I started over.

"And Damien?"

"He's already there."

"There where?"

"The venue where our date will take place."

"Where will our date take place?"

"Have you never been surprised before? Because if not then I'll have you know that with surprises, you're not supposed to know anything."

"I've been surprised before. You have no idea how many times I have had to suffer from shock."

"Was your mother there to stop you from dying from it?" He asked jokingly, but the thought of my mother made me emotional.

"She was always there for me." I said, thinking about her and about how much she loved me. About how much she loved us all.

"I can see that you think about her often."

"Everyday." I admitted more to myself than to him. I couldn't even focus in that moment as I thought about her and how she was doing wherever she was.

"Have you ever tried to find her?"

"I didn't have to. She told us not to try and find her and that when we needed her, she'd come back to us. So far we have had no problems. Sometimes... I wish something bad happens to one of us." I waited for him to say how weird or stupid that sounded but he didn't. He drove the car in silence as he gave me his ear to talk to. "Like maybe Athena were to have a miscarriage or Zeus were to have a life threatening accident."

"That's understandable." He said suddenly.

"What?" I asked in shock.

"You believe that if something bad happens to one of you, she'll rush back and then you'll get a chance to convince her to stay the second time. But you also know that that's not going to happen." He explained and I knew that he understood me.

"Exactly that. My mother doesn't change her mind easily after it's been made up. I still have faith though."

"You are a very sweet person, Hera, your mother raised you well." He complimented me and I looked away so that he couldn't see me blush.

Whenever someone else complimented me, I wouldn't have minded to blush in front of them to show them how much effect their words have on me, but with Bryson it felt different.

I felt like his views of me would change if he saw just how fast I changed whenever he said something sweet. I didn't want to come across to him as childish or immature.
