Blade

"I'm calling Claudia!"

"Have you gone completely insane?! She said that we should only call for family emergencies!"

"This is a family emergency! Hera is about to marry a fucking stranger and I can't let that happen! Bhavani... you have to let me call Claudia!"

"Oh really Blade? And after that? What will you say once she acts on what you'll tell her? What if she brings Charles into this?" Bhavani gritted angrily while pulling me by my shirt towards her angry face.

"I'm willing to take that risk." I gritted back.

"And deal with the consequences?"

"What consequences?"

Bhavani let my shirt go and checked the door of our bedroom, and then locked it behind her and looked at me with fury in her eyes.

"Ok. Let's think about this for a while. 'Hello. Uhm, Claudia. I'm sorry to disturb your lifelong honeymoon but I seem to have some bad news. I have failed to take care of Hera as you asked and now she has unfortunately fallen into the hands of a man that she has only been on one date with. You won't believe this, Claudia, but your little lamb is getting married to this stranger.' And what on earth do you think she'll say to that?" Bhavani asked after her terrible imitation of me calling Claudia.

"I'd never tell it to her like. She'd kill me." I said bluntly.

"Claudia would kill you no matter how you put it for her because she will immediately think that you broke her trust. Blade, she trusted you with her life. Her little lamb! It doesn't take a genius with a four point nil GPA to figure out what that girl means to Queen Claudia King!"

"I know that!" I screamed in frustration.

"Yes, but what you don't know or what you don't seem to understand is that if Claudia is capable of destroying an entire family era, then what the hell do you think she'll do to you once she finds out that you failed to protect Hera?"

"But..."

"... Luther. Jacklyn. Estelle. Brent Jens and Pablo Vesquez. All these fucking people fell at her fucking feet!"

"Claudia didn't kill Brent and Pablo!"

"I'm her best friend!"

"And I'm her closest ally!"

"You don't seem to know what that lady is capable of."

"I know exactly what she's capable of and that's what I'm scared of!" I screamed with tears in my eyes.

"What do you mean?!"

"If I don't tell Claudia and all of this blows up in our faces, what do you think she'll do to you? To Bani and Tanu? Our baby girls. To Lizzy?!"

"She can't do anything because we warned Hera beforehand that marrying Bryson could destroy the entire family!"

"How are you so sure?! Claudia is many things, Bhavani, but merciful isn't one of them! What if these Genaro's are using Hera to get to the Mafia?"

"What would they want in the Mafia?"

"I don't fucking know!" I grabbed a nearby pillow and threw it to the window. It didn't do much to break the glass window but it still helped me to vent out my frustrations.

"Even if so, remember that Claudia shunned us from the Mafia. The Genaros' efforts would be in vain."

This wouldn't end well for anyone. This wedding couldn't happen. I needed to stop it at any cost.

If I let it happen, there was a huge probability that the Genaro's would destroy us and then Claudia would kill me.

If I didn't let it happen, then Hera would find some way or another to marry Bryson and that would end in a terrible disaster and Claudia would kill me.

My only option was to tell Claudia but then she'd still think that I failed to protect the one and only thing in her life that mattered and then Claudia would kill me.

Whichever way it took, the fact of the matter was that I failed and that Claudia would kill me. I had already made peace with that but I didn't want her to hurt my wife and girls. I'd fight her if I had to, which would result in my demise because I also already made peace with the fact that I stood no match against Queen Claudia King. The lady was ruthless in so many ways that it somehow seemed inhumane.

"Bhavani. I'm not looking out for Claudia right now as I always usually do. I'm looking out for the four woman in my life who I'd rather die than see getting hurt. You. Tanu. Bani. And Lizzy. You four are my lives, just as Hera is Claudia's, and I would do absolutely anything to protect you guys. Even if from Claudia."

"Then if it's so... don't tell Claudia. Please. For me. For our daughters."

"But..."

"... please." Bhavani pleaded and I saw a tear fall down her cheek.

That one tear was the justification I needed to agree to what she had been saying. I wouldn't tell Claudia. Not because she told me not to but because she was crying and I didn't want to see a tear roll down Bhavani's eyes. She was much too beautiful to be crying. I loved her too much to see her shed her tears.

"I won't. I promise you."

"Thank you."

I ran to her and held her tightly in my arms, not letting her feel even if for a second that I was going to let go.

"I love you."

"I love you too."
