Kellin's P.O.V

We walked to Cassidy's house. She was worn out, probably from crying, so I put my arm around her so that she was steady. She told me about her interests. Some of them hadn't changed, but a lot of them had. It made me realise how much she had changed, and how much I had missed her. I started telling her about mikey and Joshua my brothers, and she laughed at some of the pranks they had pulled.

"You know, cass, Mikey really does miss Clemmie." I felt her stiffen when I said this. She took a deep breath and flinched. She pulled away from me, and looked at the ground. "Sorry. I didn't mean to... uh ..." I put my hand on the back of my neck in a gesture that I used when I was nervous.

"It's ok. Don't worry about it. Um I can walk home by myself from here. Thanks Kellin. Uh, bye." She started walking away. It took me a few moments to realise this.

"Cassidy!" She stopped, but didn't turn around. I jogged over to her, and pulled her into a hug. "I'm sorry, I just really don't want to mess this up again." I said.

"It's ok, Kel." She signed." I'm sorry. I'm just a bit jumpy." I put my finger to her lips.

"Don't you EVER apologise to me, cassie, ok? I don't deserve it." I looked down feeling guilty again.

"Hey." She lifted my chin, so I was facing her. She was so beautiful. Why did I let her go? "Don't. I forgave you for a reason, ok? I know you didn't mean what you said. If I never apologise to you, then you have to NEVER feel guilty about me, ok?"

"B...but"

"No buts. do we have a deal?"

"Fine." I mumbled.

"What was that?" she asked grinning.

"Deal." She knew how to twist my words."You would make a brilliant police woman, you know that?" She started laughing.

"Nice to know. But for the record you would be a crappy criminal."

"Oh, thanks." I made a crack noise and clutched my heart dramatically. "Oh! M...my Ego!" I went down on my knees as if collapsing. She giggled the whole time.

"Kellin! People are staring!" She whispered to me. I embarrassed her more by lying on my back and staring up, fake dead. I sat up and saw her blushing furiously as some girls from across the street were watching. I looked over and some of them were a couple of years below us, in school. I got up and wrapped an arm around her protectively, not sure why, but I did.

"I really hate you sometimes, Kel."

"Not my fault. You're the one who dented my ego."

"Your MASSIVE ego." She muttered under her breath.

"But you love me and my ego really." I teased. She sighed.

"Sadly, I do."

Wait. Did Cassidy just say she loved me? Did she just say it because I said she did? Did she mean it as a joke, or...? I shook the thought away. She had meant it as a joke. I looked over at her, and it seemed that she had thought the same thing.

"I...uh...I didn't mean to...uh..." She stammered.

"Don't worry. It was my fault. I shouldn't have said that" she smiled at me. Her smile was so beautiful. It wasn't perfect, but that's what I loved about it. It was slightly crooked and all teeth. She had slight dimples that only appeared when she was truly smiling, not fake smiling, genuinely smiling. Wait. I said I loved her smile. *Mental smack* you can't love Cassidy or Cassidy's smile. You have a girlfriend. You love Anabel. But do I? You do. Get your head on straight.

"Uh, Kellin? This is my house. I uh asked if you wanted to come in?"

"Huh? Oh, sorry. I sort of zoned out there. Yeah, I'll come in." I gave her a nervous smile. She unlocked the door, and we went in. The house was so quiet. There was a car in the drive, but it seemed like only Cassidy lived here.

"Uh, Cass? Are you the only one here?"

I turned around and she looked scared. She stopped in her tracks. What was going on?
