"Get up! Move!" I was grabbed and pushed off my bed. I quickly scrambled away from the person. I tucked the hair in my face behind my ear and saw max advancing. I backed closer and closer into the corner of the room. I had been sitting and listening to music. Everyone had left earlier to go to a cafe or something. I just assumed that max had gone with them. "Hmm, maybe I won't today. You didn't make anything too obvious, did you?" I just looked at his feet, not wanting to stare into his evil eyes. "I. Am. Talking. To. You." He pulled my face up and I felt a sting in my cheek. I clutched it in pain and tears stung my eyes.
"I...I didn't. I promise! Please!"
"I think you're lying! You told someone didn't you?!"
"I didn't! Please! I promise! I didn't!" I was screaming so loud that I didn't even hear the door open. I had seen Max standing over me about to hit me again before he was dragged away. I was picked up and held in someone's arms. I buried my face in whoever it was' chest. Tears streamed down my face. I heard Max arguing with someone. I heard the sound of a mattress going down as I was placed on a bed, but the person never let go of me. Instead they lay next to me and let me cry. They were stroking my hair and telling me that he wasn't going to hurt me, and that everything was fine. I was shaking now. Who the fuck was this?! I was shaking and he stopped touching my hair. I pulled away from the person in panic. My hair was in my face and preventing me from seeing the person.
"Cassidy. Calm down." He followed me as I backed off the bed. I hit the wall and felt the guys forehead against mine, until I heard him sigh, and pick me up and put me on the bed, again. Who was this guy? I definitely recognised his voice from somewhere. The hair was pushed out of my face and I stared into the grey eyes staring back at me. It was Jesse. We used to be friends. Whenever I was with Kellin I would hang out with Jesse as well. He stopped talking to me after Kellin did. He put his hand under my chin, and his eyes filled with concern. I flinched away from him. He left me. And know he wanted to just come back. As much as I was grateful that he and whoever he was with stopped max, I didn't trust him as much as I used to. I flinched away from him.
"Cassie."
"What? What d..do y...you expect."
"Look we'll talk about this after, you're still shaken up."
"Where is he?"
"He's with Gabe."
"Why is Gabe here?"
"I left some stuff at his house, and Jax had left with the others to go our, and I was the only one who knew where it was. When I came back we heard you screaming bloody murder, so ran upstairs to find him about to hit you. What the hell, Cass?! How long has this been going on?!" He raised his voice and I flinched and moved away from him. He suddenly looked guilty. Well done, bitch! You've upset him. You're so stupid.
He shook his head at me. "I always thought he was a decent guy, I mean I knew he had an anger problem, but I didn't think it was this bad....has he hurt you before?" He looked so concerned I couldn't lie to him. He'd always looked out for me. I slowly lifted up my shirt, but forgot about the cuts. His eyes widened in shock. I heard him.
W...what?! I'm such a dick! What happened to her? S...shes so amazing! How could he do that to someone like her?! How could she do that to herself?! I should've been there for her. No wonder she hates me.
I cringed. He's blaming himself. And it's my fault. I was about to pull it back down, when his hand traced my stomach.
"Did he do this?" I nodded. "Where else did you do this?" I rolled up my sleeves.
"And thighs." I whispered.
"Oh Cassie!" Tears were flowing down his cheeks. He pulled my arms up and kissed them slowly. It made me shiver and tears began to flow freely. He pulled me into a hug and sobbed on my shoulder. "This is my fault. I was meant to protect you, Cass! I'm not letting you go ever again!" He sat up and pulled me into his lap, and I lay with my head on his chest. I missed this. I really had.
"I missed you, jesse." I whispered.
"I missed you too, baby. More than you'll ever know." He whispered in my ear. I shivered and he chuckled softly. My Jesse. He hadn't changed a bit. And I was so glad. I heard someone come in, who I assumed was Gabe. Jesse was saying something, so I tapped him lightly, and without opening my eyes I whispered, "please don't tell anyone." Gabe started to protest, but I felt Jesse shake his head, and tell him not to.
"He won't hurt you anymore." He whispered in my ear. He held me close and I soon fell asleep.
