Ivy Booker
Three Months Later
"How the hell did we let this happen?" I panicked, pacing back and forth. Tay just sat there, with a dumb ass look on his face, nervously rubbing his hands together. I was a week late on my period and there was a possibility that I was pregnant, which scared the hell out of me.
"I don't know." He finally said, looking up at me. "I didn't think you'd get pregnant that one time we didn't use a condom."
"It only takes one time, Tay! And you told me you pulled out!"
"I thought I did, but maybe I came inside of you a little bit. Hell, I don't know! You can't be mad at me because you got some good shit in between them thighs!" I slammed my hand over his loud ass mouth, hoping and praying that neither my mom or stepdad heard him. It was the weekend, so of course I was at my mom's house, and I invited Tay over here so we could take this pregnancy test together and find out if I was pregnant or not.
"Stop being so loud." I whispered, through gritted teeth. "My mom and stepdad are right downstairs."
"I'm sorry baby, but I'm just so nervous. What if you're pregnant? What are we going to do?" He asked. The only thing that made me feel better about what he just asked me, was that he said we and not just me. That meant that even if I were to be pregnant, he wouldn't just up and leave me like some boys do.
"I don't know. I'm not ready to be a parent yet, but I wouldn't have to worry about that because my dad would literally kill me if he found out. Not before making me a single parent, because you'd be as good as dead."
"Gee...thanks for making me feel better." He grumbled, sarcastically. I laughed a little, shrugging my shoulders.
"I'm just being honest. My dad already doesn't like the fact that we're dating, since I told him I wouldn't date until I was forty."
"Forty? Damn!"
"Ease up, dude. I was five at the time and daddy's little princess." I said.
"I believe it." He smirked. I smiled a little and took a deep breath, looking over at him. "I just want you to know, Ivy...if you are pregnant...I'll be by your side no matter what."
"Really?"
"Really, really. You didn't make this baby by yourself, therefore I won't let you go through this alone." I smiled and leaned over to kiss him, before standing up and making my way into the bathroom. My stomach was in knots and I felt like I was going to throw up at any moment, but that could wait until I found out the results of this pregnancy test.
"Here goes nothing." I sighed, picking the test up off of the bathroom sink. "It's negative!"
"Oh thank God!" Tay said, grabbing his chest. "Shit that was close!"
"Too close, if you ask me!" The relief I felt seeing that one line on the test made me happier than a "Make A Wish" kid a Disneyland. I tossed the test in the trashcan and walked out of the bathroom falling back on my bed. "We can't let anything like this happen again."
"I agree. From now on, protected sex only. No more unprotected sex."
"Actually...I was thinking that we could just cool it for awhile. You know...just us hanging out without having sex."
"That works too." He chuckled, pulling me into his arms and kissing my forehead. "Can I tell you something, in hopes that you won't go running for the hills?"
"Of course." I said, looking up at him.
"I'm falling for you...hard."
"You are?"
"Yeah I am. From the moment I met you in class, I knew I had to have you and now that I do...I don't want to let you go. I love you, Ivy." He said, making my heart flutter in my chest. For the longest, I didn't know how to tell Tay how I felt about him, but lucky for me...he beat me to the punch,
"I love you too." I told him.
"You do?"
"Yes. I didn't know how to tell you, in fear that you'd go running for the hills, but you beat me to the punch." He leaned down and kissed me, sliding his tongue into my mouth, as I groaned against his lips. Out of nowhere, my door came flying open and my mom came in.
"Oh, sorry!" She said, covering her eyes.
"Mom! I thought we talked about this! You're supposed to knock first!"
"I know, I know, I was just coming in to see if your friend would like to join us for dinner."
"Sure, I'd love too." Tay spoke up, making me shake my head.
"No you don't. She's a lousy cook." I told him. The closet thing my mom could make is cereal and sometimes she can't even do that. She and my stepdad are so used to eating out at restaurants or ordering takeout, she never found the time to learn how to cook. My stepmom, on the other hand, can throw down in the kitchen and I love her cooking.
"For your information, little missy, we're ordering takeout." She said, rolling her eyes. See what I mean?
"Of course we are."
"What's with the attitude?"
"I don't have an attitude." I said, rolling my eyes.
"Okay, forget it. Tay, I'm going to have to ask you to leave since my daughter is being rude." She snapped.
"How am I being rude?"
"Babe it's okay. Maybe we'll have dinner another time." Tay said, getting up to leave.
"No! That's not fair!" I shouted, jumping up.
"Ivy...I'm not doing this with you right now. He can't stay for dinner and that's that."
"Fine. If he goes, I go."
"Excuse you?" She said, her voice leaking with disbelief. "You and I both know that your dad wouldn't approve of you leaving late in the evening with a boy."
"Like I said...if he goes, I go." I said again.
"Ivy chill out. I'll just call you later." He said, getting up from the bed and walking out of the room.
"I'm sorry about this, Tay. I'm also sorry about my daughters embarrassing behavior." My mom called out.
"Embarrassing behavior? You really wanna talk about embarrassing behavior? Let's talk about YOU then!" I began, pointing at her.
"Me? What about me?"
"You know what? I'm not even about to go there with you, when you know EXACTLY what you did! Matter of fact, I'm leaving and I won't be coming back over here!" I grabbed my phone and called my dad, only to have my mom snatch the phone out of my hand.
"Who do you think you are talking to me like that? I brought you in this world, Ivy, and I will for surely take your ass out!" She yelled at me.
"Yeah, that's the only thing you have done for me!" I yelled back. SMACK! She slapped me hard across the face, which pissed me off to the point of no return. Out of nowhere, I shoved her as hard as I could, sending her stumbling back as she fell against the dresser and fell to the floor. "Oh my God...mom I'm sorry!" I couldn't even stand there anymore, as I picked my phone up and ran out of the room, rushing downstairs and out of the house. I can't believe I just pushed my mom and on top of that...my dad was on the phone and I'm almost certain that he overheard everything that went down between us. Bottom line...I am so screwed!
