"WHAT THE FUCK YOU MEAN HE PROPOSED TO HER?!" I heard my dad yell, as me, TJ, and Sariyah sat at the top of the stairs and eavesdrop. Everyone was acting a fool over Bella and Gabe's proposal, but I really didn't see what the big deal was. They loved each other, they seemed to have a legit plan, so what's the issue?

"He proposed to her at prom and she said yes." My aunt Talia said. Our parents, along with Uncle Jude and Uncle Zell, were downstairs talking about the entire situation and I wanted to know how they felt about it. Bella called me crying the day after prom, saying that they were being unreasonable, and that they had ruined their entire engagement announcement.

"Aw naw, my niece is pregnant!" Uncle Jude yelled out, making us laugh a little. He is always so extra.

"Jude, quit playing with us before I go kill that boy!" Uncle Dean snapped.

"You ain't killing shit, white boy!" Uncle Zell spat.

"Let your son knock my daughter up and see if I don't knock his lil ass out!"

"Whoa now, whoa!" Aunt Talia said, as we all eased downstairs, just in case a fight broke out. She was standing in between Uncle Dean and Uncle Zell, while Uncle Jude was standing there stuffing popcorn in his mouth. See what I mean? Extraaa!

"LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLEEEEE! On the left we got Dean Clarke, weighing in at 245 pounds, long dreads, and too many kids to count! And on the right we have Donzell Washington, who should've just been named Denzel Washington, but I guess his parents wanted to be creative! He looks like he weighing in at 200 pounds, with an alien sized head, and long, uneven dreads!"

"SHUT THE FUCK UP, JUDE!" Uncle Zell snapped, as we all started to laugh hysterically.

"Ya'll need to chill out." Dad laughed, running his hand down his head. "Now I don't think Bella is pregnant or anything, but I have peeped how in love they look whenever I see them. Lil' Gabe makes her happy and she makes him happy, so what's the problem?"

"The problem is that they are too young!" Aunt Talia snapped. "Don't get me wrong, I like Gabe and I think they have a cute little young love situation going on, but the truth of the matter is...they're not ready."

"Are they not ready or are ya'll not ready?" Everything got quiet.

"DUN, DUN, DUUUNNNN!" Uncle Jude said.

"JUDE!" Everyone shouted.

"Stop cracking jokes before I break your neck!" Uncle Dean warned him. "She's too young, man. I know she think she in love, but what if he breaks her heart? I will go to jail for voluntary manslaughter."

"You got one more time to threaten my damn son!" Uncle Zell growled.

"He said what he said, Zell! You really sitting here acting like someone is scared of you!" Aunt Talia snapped. "And I can't speak for Dean, but you're right Tevin. I'm not ready for this. I'm not ready for Bella to grow up, get married, and start a family one day. She hasn't even experienced life and yet...she's ready to take a big step and marry her best friend? I can't."

"I feel the same way. I know Bella will be eighteen soon, but that's still my baby girl and no boy in this entire world will ever be good enough for her. Not even Zell's offspring." Uncle Dean huffed.

"Ya'll gotta admit though...they seem to have everything figured out, so why not just support them? Let them learn that marriage is hard work and if they fail, don't just be like I told you so. Be their parent and support them. Catch them when they're about to fall, or you can let them crash and burn." My stepmom said. "I know if Ivy and Sariyah ever come to me and tell me that they were engaged at seventeen or eighteen-"

"I'd kill them lil boys and hide the damn body!" My dad shouted, cutting her off. Sariyah and I looked at each other, shaking our head, at our overprotective ass father.

"Bottom line, they're going to have to start making their own decisions sooner or later, so why not let them start now? Bella will be eighteen in a few more weeks, along with Ivy, and if she wants to marry Gabe then let them get married."

"That's easy for you to say, Syd. This isn't your daughter that wants to get married at a young age." Aunt Talia said.

"True, but she is my goddaughter and I love her just as much as ya'll do, which means that I'm going to support her no matter what." Aunt Talia looked as if she was processing everything my mom had just said, which told me that she was actually considering giving Gabe and Bella her blessings.

Me: It's a comedy show going on in my living room, but my mom might've convinced your mom. I'm not sure though.

Bella: That's better then nothing. How about my dad?

Me: He and Uncle Zell are close to fighting, so no. He is far from convinced, but I'll keep you updated.

Bella: K, Thanks.

I sat my phone down in my lap, putting my attention back on what was going on in my living room.

"I hear what you're saying, Syd, but the truth of the matter is...they're too young." Uncle Dean said. "Now I like Gabe and there's no doubt in my mind that he loves my daughter, but I'm not allowing them to get married."

"They can still run off and get married Dean, which is what they'll probably do if you try to stop them."

"Then that's when Ima take action and whoop some ass!" Uncle Zell growled.

"Whoop who ass?" Both Aunt Talia and Uncle Dean yelled at the same time. Uncle Jude and my dad even glared at him, trying to see who ass he was talking bout whooping.

"My damn son! Y'all daughter ain't got shit to do with me!"

"You right about that!"

"Look...let's just agree to disagree. Gabe and Bella are going to do what they feel is best for them, so y'all can either get on board or be prepared to say goodbye to y'all oldest kids." my dad said. "And Ivy, you bet not pull no stunt like this at all, lil girl. Unlike them, I'll kill little Quanie Jr. in cold blood." He turned and pointed to me, as me, TJ, and Sariyah took off running upstairs. We didn't know that he knew we were eavesdropping, but I had to remember that we could never get one over on our dad.

Me: Sorry Bella, but it's not looking good.

I felt bad for them, only because I knew how happy and in love they were in, but if they love each other like they say they do...waiting won't be problem for either of them.
