“What do you mean they're aren’t any left?”
After Maddie said that I thought, what exactly can a protector do? Maybe we don’t really need them…maybe?
“So what exactly do we need a protector for?”
“You don’t understand, you can’t have a team without a protector! It’s a bad idea!”
“Yeah but nothing's stopping us.” Maddison added.
“Once a team is completed your protector fully unlocks your powers with his or her staff. You both have so many things you haven’t unlocked yet things you can’t even dream of….”
“Why might they be gone?”
“They're used to be one born into every family, but the Red fox had other plans. He started to release a chemical that would destroy all protectors and give newbies powers. He’d make those newbies into his army, the Red Fox was smart but we were smarter. The team destroyed his contraption but some of the gas had already leaked out. Many people died that day, innocent people. Red Fox wouldn't have died without mentoring someone.”
“That's why we have to find a protector, we can’t give up hope. There's one somewhere out there. I know it, we just have to keep looking!”
So the old team must have had one common villain, like Joker and Batman. Red Fox….so the person Toxin and the others have been working for must be the mentor of Mr.Fox….right? Right!
I was so busy in my head I didn’t realize the conversation happening. They were talking about the old team.
“Who were the protectors then?” Maddison asked.
“Tracy Heart and Victoria Heart, they were the sweetest thing.”
“You mean like the Tracy who works with Hunter and I?”
“Yes….”
“She has a sister, she never told us that!”
“The old team died as a hero, I feel bad for Miss Heart sometimes. You know her sister sacrificed herself for the lives of everyone.” Everyone was still and quite. All you could hear was soft sounds of nature.
“Your team should know.”
The Tiny bunny glanced at Autumn, who gave her a nod.
“When your team shows we’ll tell you the story of the Z Dragon, the day the team became a legend.” As she finished her sentence I drew my attention to the water which was slowly freezing over.
“Something's up.” I say wondering why the water was freezing.
“Let’s go!” Maddie says already running towards the water.
When we reached the water; ice was oh so slowly covering the water.
“Odd.” I looked up and Maddie was gone.
“What are you waiting for?!”
“Are you crazy?” She stood in the middle of the lake on ice that was thinner then Max and he’s a freaking toothpick!
“Call me crazy but we need to find Hunter, Max and Angel. And hate to break it to ya, but sitting here isn’t doing anything. We need to go. Our you coming?”
“Huh….fine. But if you fall in I’m not the one responsible for it!” She smiled and started to walk faster.
“Wait!!” I caught up with her, “Any ideas?”
