Where am I? I look around, as far as I can tell I’m floating around in the abyss of nothing, complete darkness. I look down at my hands and body, not one scratch. So this definitely isn’t reality, I think? I see a small glow as I get closer the glow begins to develop into a picture. I feel tears running down my face, a small smile pressed against my cheeks.

“V-violet.” I touch the picture, it fades in my fingertips.

Another glow, another picture, more tears flowing like a rushing river. My family, my mom, so sweet, kind caring. I remember she was always so worried about me, it was kinda funny. My dad, quite the comedian, he was strong, funny and taught me everything I know about sports and girls. He used to tell me how he met mom, one day he was walking across town, enjoying the scenery when he saw the most beautiful women in his life. He walked up to her and said that he was lost looking for 5678 Redwood Avenue. So my mom helped him find the house he was looking for, once they walked by this really nice jewelry store, my dad noticed one necklace in particular caught her eye. He said he needed to use the bathroom so she waited outside for him, he constantly stopped trying to use all the time he could. Once they arrived at the house it was really late and she was probably starving so he offered her in for a bowl of cereal over candlelight, she actually said yes and laughed about it for a while. Dad said that was the cutest laugh he ever heard. The two of them sat down and realized they had a lot in common, later that night he brought out the necklace she had her eye on she burst out in tears, apparently it used to be her mothers. Her mom was in the hospital on her deathbed through batting five grife years with cancer, she was a tough fighter. When she was at the hospital someone broke into her apartment and stole her mother's necklace. Somehow the necklace ended up in the jewelry store and they said some dude sold it to them for a lot of money. She never had enough to buy it back, that was until this comical gentlemen showed up. I looked to the right of me, a picture of violet smiling, she always had the brightest smile, even in the end.
Violet. My dear sister. Kind, smart, caring, funny, she puts others first, she’s just the best. A great siser, no a amazing, unique, lovely, kind sister. She gave her life for me.
    Her life.
As did the rest of my family, I can’t fail them. I have to make them proud of me, sometimes I don’t feel worthy. So many questions run through my head, ‘Why did she die for me?’ ‘What if I’m not worthy?’ ‘What would Violet say if she saw me now?’ ‘Would she be proud of me?’ ‘Would she be disappointed?’

“Max.” Rodney, his voice sounded weak and fading. Another light in the distance. I inched towards it.

“Rodney? W-whats wrong?!” His body was fading, was he dieing?

“Listen, the Z dragon, some life force is apart of it-”

“Whats happening why are you fading?”

“I’m not the only one. Just-just listen, you need to get back in your reality now, warn the team.”

   “Where am my now?”

“I guess you could say we're in memory lane. Now go!”

“MAX!” I could recognize that voice from anywhere.
Violet.

“V-violet? How?” Tears began welling up in my eyes once more. My heat burst with joy just hearing her voice.

“Don’t leave! Oh I’ve missed you so much. Stay here, with me, mom and dad. You could live the life you’ve always dreamt of!” She pulled me in for a hug, I pushed away.

“Is that what this is? A dream?”

    “It could be a reality.”

“Max, no! You-” Rodney completely faded away.

“ROD-” Dad clamped his hand over my mouth.

“Give your pops a hug, come on slugger.”

    “No. I-I-”

“It’s okay to hesitate. Choose the right choice. Stay. Please, Max we love you so much. We did everything for you. Are you just going to leave to repay us?” Says mom.

“Please.” Pleads my sister, I truly, truly want to stay. I do. I really do, but Rodney said it was important to warn the others.”

“I’m sorry, this-this isn’t real.” I walked away, I had to stay strong. As I walked I could hear them scream my name. This was by far the hardest decision I’ve ever made. Ever. It caused me so much pain seeing and hearing them in pain.
I continued to walk then stopped, the memory, that day. The blue glow turned into the darkest memory of my life right before my eyes. I didn’t want to watch but I couldn't look away. I watched as my house burned into ashes and the killer got away, unknown. I always wanted to know the identity of the killer but I could never figure it out. Then I thought, what if this memory could be like a tape? I double tapped it and sure enough it rewinded. I pushed on the time I barely could see the face through the flames I zoomed in.
“No. NO! YOU WON’T GET AWAY WITH THIS! I’LL KILL YOU KITSUNE!” Suddenly blackness filled the air and pain rushed through my body.
