I ran as fast as I could desperate to see the outcome of what my team might have caused. As I ran into the smoke the air was thin. I couldn’t see a thing, then the smoke began to clear.
Nothing.
Absolutely nothing was their. Just Tracey and I, no one else.
“Looking for something? Or should I say someone?”
“Kitsudene?” Says Maddie sounding a little surprised. “I thought you guys finished her or something?” She says looking at me.
“Ha, your too funny.” I notice now she's wearing her mask unlike the time we fought her. “Anyway I’ll be leaving, with him.”
“Him?” Askes Angel.
“Oh you haven’t heard? Well you see your little friend here is the Z Dragons blood bonder. He is this monster that killed the last team and he will be the monster that kills your team. It quite funny how easily you were fooled by his appearance.”
“What?”
“No…..”
“I-it can’t be. Can it?” The whole team is stunned. They all react differently.
There's a loud sound that comes from the top of the nearest building. A dark cloudy mist begins to flood the air.
“Well that's my que.”
“Grab Tom-”
“Hunter-” Maddison starts.
“I know. But he’s more of a threat in Kitsunes hands, we need to get him. If we don’t he’ll be more of a threat then he already was. That power combo weakened it for awhile but once it wakes it’ll be way more powerful then it was.” They all hesitate for a split second, worried.
“I truly fear this will be the worst mistake we make but you are the leader, so here.” Scarlet holds out some futuristic looking device. “In this holds a source that holds eternal darkness and death, way too much for a human to take in. But if we give it to Tom the Z Dragons powers should short out creating a time slasher spell. Once that happens he’ll be creating 5.2 million portals an hour, then Angel can track down one with her powers grabbing him before he switches portals. The rest of us can be ready to stop Kitsune from getting him back.”
“Hunter your sure about this-”
“Em I know this is one of the hardest decisions but-”
“He almost killed me and Max! This is way past hard.”
“She's got a point Hunter.” Says Maddie.
“Either we let Kitsune get away with him and possibly destroy humanity as we know it or get him back-”
“And then what?” Askes Angel.
“I-I don’t know…”
“I trust you.” Says Emmy worried yet confident.
“Me too.”
“Me three.”
“Me four.”
There's nothing we can do about the toxin now. It’s too late. It was that or him.
“Ah your back?”
“Yeah and I’m here for-”
“Him? Your wasting your time.” She held Tom by a clump of hair, the was a overwhelming amount of blood falling and dripping. He was all busted up, stab wounds and punctures everywhere. They're was a small silence between us.
Drip, drip, drip, drip. Between the silence they're was a small pattern of sounds. The blood, it slowly drips creating a patterned affect.
“Take care of her.” Kitsune says to Dr. Ill.
“On it.” She slowly walked towards me with her gun of nightmares.
“NOW!” I scream.
Maddison ran towards Kitsune, but she ducks out of the way. Leaving Maddie to fall and
Kitsunes blade to be at her neck.
“Really. That's your plan?”
“Well no actually she was the distraction.”
“Wha-?!” She spins around but not fast enough. Angels flys past her so fast she's a blur. She places the device on Tom’s shoulder. A portal appears as Tom disappears.
“NO!” She screams, she throws something on the floor creating a huge black smoke, Dr. Ill does the same crating a pink and purple smoke.
“There gone and I don’t think they intend on coming back for awhile.”
“The toxin.” Says Emmy.
“Kitsune got exactly what she wanted.” Says Maddie.
“Not everything.” It’s Angel.
“Area Fifty one probably gonna want to ask some questions. So powers from a rock huh?” Says Jewel.
“Yeah…” I look out to the town. A complete disaster, cars are crushed, buildings are nothing but ash and scrapes.
“You did good.”
“Thanks, I just hope I made the right decision.” I look to Angel who cradles Tom in her arms.
I hope.
“So I hear you're looking for some alliances?” Her hand dangles out of a sling.
She must have broke it during battle?
“Yeah but we don-I so sorry-I-”
“Here, use this. Call me anytime.”
“Thanks-”
“Sergeant!” Yells one of the recruits.
“Coming! Well I better go. See you soon?”
“See you soon.” She walked away.
Tracey walks by my side, her face is patched up on long scar running down her thigh.
“Max is doing well, he might be out of the game for a little while but he’ll be back.”
I knew Aquaman would make it. A weak smile appears at the thought.
“Good. How's everyone else?”
“Worried.”
“I thought they would be.”
“What do you plan on doing with him?”
“I’m not sur-”
“HOW?!” I hear Scarlet yell. I run to them as fast as I can.
Angel bent down to pick up something she dropped. It seems to be one of those best friend necklaces.
“I um….I found this in some abandoned shack in the forest and I-it just felt so familiar even though I don't remember my past. I just I-” A single tear slowly fell down Scarlets cheek. As she pulled something out of her pocket.
“J-Jenny?” Only one word came to mind.
Unbelievable.
Scarlet held out the other half of the necklace.
