I was exhausted and I felt like I couldn't move a muscle. I needed some rest if I planned on keeping up with this badass girl. I couldn't shake the feeling that I knew her somehow. Her eyes looked like eyes I knew from years ago. Maybe it was just crazy, but part of me didn't think so. She came back when darkness fell.
"Kid, get up, let's go."
"Where are we going?"
"My place, move it."
I got up and followed scrapper 142 to her place. She opened the door and lead me into a really nice place for being on a garbage dump. She grabbed a drink and flopped down on the couch, motioning for me to sit down.
"You're trying to leave?"
"Yeah, I wasn't supposed to be here."
"None of us were, but here we are."
"What? What do you mean?"
"I mean what I said. I have a past I'm trying to run away from, I'm probably the only person who chose to be here."
"I know how that feels."
"Do you know? What could a princess like you want to escape?"
"Asgard is great, but it has alot of secrets."
"Ain't that the truth."
"You know about Asgard?"
"I wish I didn't."
"Wanna share?"
"Not really, no."
"Okay."
"You aren't going to pester me?"
"Of course not."
"Alright. Let me tell you what I know about this place."We spent hours taking about the Grand Master and what she knew about the few entrances and exits. There wasn't much, but with her help, I might be able to get somewhere. She had access to the Grand Master's exclusive ships and she could probably steal one and be undetected.
"Are you coming with me? I'm sure Asgard would welcome you home."
"I'd rather not go back there. I'm happy here."
"Oh, okay."
"You're a sweet and strong girl Nova. I know you'll make it back okay without me."
"Thank you, I never even caught your name?"
"Scrapper 142."
"You aren't going to tell me are you?"
"No I will not."
"Alright, well, thank you Scrapper 142, see you tomorrow."
"Want to crash here?"
"Is that alright?"
"I wouldn't offer if it wasn't."
"Ooookay." She got me settled in a spare room and I fell asleep the second my head hit the pillow.Today was the day all hell would break loose. It was pretty warm on this planet, but there was no way I could even roll up my sleeves, let alone cast a lasting illusion. I was still to weak to use my powers. I had a secret, one I haven't thought about since that dreadful day, but suddenly, it kept coming up. I shivered and tugged on the sleeves, making sure they were fully down. As I did that, Scrapper 142 walked out of her room.
"What's wrong with your sleeves?"
"What?! Nothing nothing, they're fine."
"Yeah, let me see."
"No."
"Then I'm not helping you."
"Are you kidding me?"
"No, show me."
I looked away, ashamed as I lifted up my sleeve, revealing the tattoo etched into my skin. My heart sank, my one secret I never wanted to ever come up was out.
"My god, you're... a... Oh my god!"
"Please let it go, it's not important."
"Not important? You're a Valkyrie!"
"WAS! Not anymore."
"That's insane!"
"It's not. I retired after all my friends died before me."
"I know." With that statement, she lifted up her sleeve as well, revealing the exact same tattoo on her arm as well.
"That's where I know you from! I swore, your techniques and just you overall seemed familiar."
"That's the only reason I'm helping you. Valkyrie to Valkyrie."
"You quit after the Hela incident didn't you?"
"That day marked the end of the Valkyrie. We're the only ones who survived."
"Thank you."
"What are we waiting for, let's go!"Now before we get into what is about to go down, I know what you're thinking. Nova wtf! You didn't tell us you were a Valkyrie. Well, I wasn't exactly trying to remember it myself. Thor and Loki never knew. My "farmer's market" job was an excuse for when I was called away. Odin never told another soul. Way back when, I mentioned I never wore short sleeves or if I did, I cast an illusion. I never wanted to be reminded of that tragic day again. Let me explain.
Odin banished his firstborn, Hela, from Asgard. When she tried to escape her banishment, Odin sent the Valkyrie to fight her back. I made him promise that if I didn't make it back, he would erase Thor and Loki's memory of me. I went, alongside scrapper 142, and watched our friends stabbed, tortured and killed. I faked dead to stay alive, I assume she did as well. I never thought about it since then. The boys never knew, and never would. The Valkyrie had a certain way to fight, which might've been how I noticed Scrapper 142 and I knew eachother. There was no known way to get rid of the tattoos. If there was, mine would be long gone. Laser removal doesn't touch it. I burned the clothing and the Valkyrie weapon of choice. They were the best years of my life, gone by one crappy goddess. She ruined my life, and boy, I wanted my revenge. I wanted it bad. But you don't care about that.. You me to get out of my head and escape this planet! That's exactly what I'm going to do, right now.
