I wake up to a low crying noise. Draco wrapped me in a literal crepe of blankets last night so in the process of trying to get up and locate the problem, I manage to roll off my cot and onto the floor. When I untangle myself, I see Ron is rolled onto his bad arm, still asleep. The pain really should have woken him up... Weird. I stand up and tiptoe over to him. The tips of my fingers are numb from the cold winter air biting at me all night, but Ron's skin is warm. I gently roll him back with his face to the ceiling, and pray he doesn't wake up. His nose twitches and goosebumps rise on his arms, but he stays unconcious. I've always marveled at how peaceful and relaxed Ron looks when he's sleeping. And I guess I could find lots of things I love about him if I wanted to. It's not hard for me to think about what might have been if Draco hadn't come along. My thoughts are innterupted when I hear sheets ruffling. I turn to see Harry, looking a little bit upset and anxious. "Harry, what's wrong?" I whisper, knitting my eyebrows together. "Draco's gone," he whispers back sadly. I stand immediately and walk to his cot.

It's empty.

"Hermione," Harry warns as I quickly exit the tent into the dark of night, pulling on my sweater and crossing my arms. "Where are you going?" Harry asks, pacing behind me. I stop. "To find him. What if Voldemort found us and took him?" I propose, turning to face him. "Oh sure, take Draco but leave me," Harry argues. I turn again, and start towards the lake. "Hermione-" "Harry, I need to find him. Go back to sleep," I warn.

I continue into the forest, alone.
