I drove back to Dean's as I had left the car in the airport carpark, I drove up the driveway before abandoning the car locking it and heading to the front door. My hands shook as I didn't know what to expect when he opened the door. I waited before the door swung open, my eyes widened as a young woman looked down at me from the door. "Hi," she smiled as she looked me up and down. "Can I help you?"
"Yeah," I spoke as I looked at her confused before I shook my head, "Actually," I held my hand up in front of me. "I'm good, sorry to bother you."
I turned away from her and headed to the car before I heard her speak, "I'm sorry," she called before I heard her footsteps then before I knew it she was in front of me before I could even get to the car. "You must be Tasha," she held her hand out for me to shake, "I'm Katherine."
My eyes looked down at her hands before I looked back at her. Of course, she was Katherine. She was beautiful, around my age, she had the shiniest glossy brown hair, long smooth legs that peeked out from the pencil skirt she wore and the most perfect makeup and lets not start on her dazzling blue eyes. Then it hit me like a punch in the face, for a second I had to shake my head to make sure I hadn't actually been hit because the realization was that stark.
"I'm so sorry," I gushed as I looked up at her and blushed as I shook my head.
She laughed, "Maybe I should have introduced myself a little better." She reoffered me her right hand and grinned as she watched me.
I reached forward and shook her hand as I felt an arm snaked around my shoulders, immediately I flinched away before I looked up at Dean and returned to his side taking my hand away from Katherine. "I see you've met my sister," Dean cleared up any confusion that may have been left. Although looking into her eyes cleared up any scrambled mess in my brain, it was obvious when you looked deep enough.
Smiling at Dean he placed a kiss on my cheek as I put my arms around him, "I just wanted to see you before I headed out." I told him not sure what he'd told his sister, I didn't want her to know anything about my personal life if I could help it.
"Do you need me to come with you?" He asked as we all walked back towards his home.
I shook my head as he held the door for me and allowed me to walk in first followed by Katherine, "I think I will be okay."
"Mommy!" I heard a shriek from the kitchen and when I looked up I saw two little girls running towards Katherine.
They were identical to each other with little blonde pigtails and pretty blue dungaree dresses. They must have been at least eight years old, if not a little older. They both clung to their mother's legs as they looked up at me nervously.
My heart almost stopped, I looked between them before Katherine spoke. "These are the two loves of my life," she patted the one on the right on the head, "This is Cassidy." Then she did the same the girl on her left, "And this is Aubrey."
"Hi girls," I said shakily as I knelt down to their level.
"Are you uncle Jon's girlfriend?" Cassidy asked as she eyed me suspiciously as she stepped away from her mother's grip and closer to me.
My mouth fell open as I looked at her before looking at Dean who smiled, I looked back at Cassidy and nodded, "Yes I am."
She grinned widely, "You are much prettier than his last girlfriend."
"Cassidy," Katherine scolded her daughter as I stood back up and stepped back next to Dean.
I laughed, "It's okay." I tried to play it off as being cool but I knew she meant Immy, she couldn't mean anyone else. To be honest, she was not a subject that we should be talking about.
