I didn't return to the hotel, I didn't return to Dean's home, instead, I found myself at the airport looking at the board deciding if I was going to get a flight. There were so many options for me right now, I could go back to my own place and stay there and sulk, although I didn't much like being there, not when I was alone. I could travel to see AJ and Punk, but I didn't know if they would be home with their busy schedules. There were quite a few other options yet only one seemed to really jump out at me.
Heading towards the desk I brought one last-minute ticket, my hands clutching it as I headed through security and then on to the waiting room. Once there I sat on the sofa and watched as planes landed and took off. Around me many different people came and sat down, they took their seats and waited for their own plates. Some were obvious holidaymakers, some were people returning home and others were business people. I left my seat holding my handbag close to me as I walked through the lounge, my eyes looking at the board as I waited for my flight to be announced.
Suddenly I heard my phone ringing, I quickly retrieved it from my bag and looked at the caller ID, I was disappointed to see it was Seth but I answered it anyway raising the phone to my ear, "Hello?"
"Where are you?" He asked me abruptly, his voice was full of worry and rushed.
My eyes flashed at the board ahead before my flight was announced across the speaker system. "I have to go," I told him.
"Wait," he begged sharply.
I walked towards the queue that was forming to the desk, my hands shaking as I held my ticket and lined up behind a few people. "What is it?"
A little blonde girl in front of me turned and watched me as I listened to Seth talk, "You can't go."
"I can't stay," I said before I smiled at the young girl. She couldn't have been any older than three, her hair in little ringlets that she twirled around her finger as she watched me.
"Go and you'll break his heart," Seth told him angrily. "If you go don't come back, don't come back into his life to do this again."
My eyes filled with tears as I listened to his words before I stepped out of the queue, my feet returning me to the seats where I could watch the line and rejoin if I needed to. "This is all well and good," I spoke, my mouth running away from my brain. "But where is he? Where has he been when I needed him? Where was he when I wanted to talk about things when I needed someone to lean on?"
I listened as Seth sighed, "Ring him."
"I'm fed up with ringing him," I told Seth as I got back to my feet and joined the back of the queue. "He doesn't answer my calls, if he wants me he can call me."
"Don't do this," Seth sounded like he was losing hope.
Looking down the line I counted the people, guessing the time I had. "I'm at the back at the queue," I explained to him, "I guess he had fifteen minutes at the most to call me, if I don't hear from him I'm going to take that as a sign."
"Tasha," he spoke my name, his voice sounding like his heart was breaking.
"Hopefully I'll speak to you soon," I removed the phone from my ear and ended the call as I looked at my phone. Right now I was totally heartbroken but I knew I couldn't keep my life on hold just in case. If he wanted me in his life he knew how to get hold of me. I hoped he would call me but I knew I was hoping for a miracle right now.
The line slowly shuffled forward and before I knew it I was handing my board pass to the woman on the desk. As she looked at it along with my passport my phone started to ring, I looked down at it and pressed the button the phone lifting it to my ear. "Dean?"
"Tasha?"
I could have cried hearing his voice. I needed to hear it so much.
"Don't get on the plane," he told me.
My eyes looked at the woman who was impatiently holding my passport and boarding pass out for me, "Ma'am, you're going to have to turn that off now."
I took the passport and boarding pass before I held my hand up. I knew we had at least another twenty minutes before the plane took off. Stepping to the side I ran a hand through my hair as I leaned my phone between my ear and my shoulder.
"I'm begging you, don't get on the plane. Don't do this," he told me.
Shaking my head as I took the phone back into my hand and held it to my ear I sighed, "Don't be asking me to stay for all the wrong reasons."
"I love you," he told me. "I love you so much and I'm sorry for everything. I'm asking you to stay because you want to because you love me too."
My body was shaking as he said the words, "I love you."
"Please stay then."
I looked down at my hands, at the passport in my hands, my eyes scanning over the boarding pass. "If I stay, am I going to be enough?" I asked as I turned and looked at the plane I was due to board.
"You'll always be enough," his voice sounded desperate. "You always were."
My hands shook like crazy as I finally found the courage to speak to tell him the truth. "No," I said as I started to cry. "This is it, I am it. There is no future with me," I told him. "I can't give you kids that you crave so much"
"I don't understand."
My vision blurred as tears streamed down my face, I walked away from the desk, the woman trying to get my attention as I walked away ignoring her. "I saw the way you are with your nieces, I saw how you stared at Brie in such awe, I remember how much you..." I didn't dare finish that sentence. "I cannot ever give you children," I told him with a heavy heart. "I can never give you a normal life."
"I don't need any of that," he tried to tell me.
Walking towards the exit I looked around trying to find the best way out of here as I heard Dean's car door slam in the background of our call.
"I just want you."
My head was spinning as I listened to his words. "I want you too," I blurted out.
"Tasha," he said my name.
I looked up at the exit and there he stood by the doors. My hands dropped everything, my phone, passport and boarding pass falling to the floor when I saw him there in front of me. He looked like he had been crying too, his clothes wrinkled and his hair a mess as he stared at me.
My lips crept into a smile before I knelt down and picked up my items, when I had them in my hands I looked up to see his outstretched hand for me to take. Placing my hand into his I stood up as I stared into his eyes.
"Lets go home."
