Amber's Point-of-View
There was blood, so much blood. So many scars, so many bruises. I unleashed the darkest of my powers. The black wave swirled around my attacker. From behind I was tackled. I felt weight on top of me. The butt of a gun banged up against my temple. Screaming for help. This is it. This is the end. My death. Being strangled and carried away, while my voice sounds like a pinprick. Need...air...need-
I woke with a start. I strangled cry escaped my throat. I tried to stand up. But I couldn't.
"Gosh, dang it!" I screamed.
My hands were tied up behind my back. My legs were also bound to the chair. I could see, and I could talk. Two very important things. I tried to unleash the darkness in the bland room I was in, but for some reason I couldn't. My hands were taped over.
"I am trapped," I thought. And then I heard a sound.
The door began to creak open.
"Prepare yourself to lie," I whispered.
The shadowy figure stepped into view. I tried to make out who he was. I couldn't get a clear view, until...
"Rowan!" I cried. Happy tears washed over my cheeks.
"Amber? Is that really you?" Rowan asked me.
"Yes! It is!" I said.
He rushed over to me and hugged me.
"I thought you were dead," he said, his finger tracing my cheekbones.
"I was just unconscious," I said," but I came out with some pretty bad scars."
"I think you look best with your battle scars. You look beautiful to me," he whispered.
"Thank you. Now, let's get out of here!" I answered.
"Amber, you know I can't run away with you. This isn't some fantasy," Rowan responded.
"But I need to get out of here and go back to the base. They can't know I've been here, especially with you," I pleaded.
"Amber, I thought you told them about us," Rowan said.
"You know how they'd react if they learned that we have been dating for a year. In secret," I angrily said.
"But they should know you are dating the leader of the Red Eye Brothers," he said.
"But Row-" I began.
"Amber, listen. They are going to find out sooner or later. And with this mass murderer on the lose, it isn't helping our case," he stated.
"Let me go back to the base," I bargained," and I will do just that."
"You know I can't let you do that," Rowan said.
"I know you can't break your manhood code or whatever, but the girls need me. And if I do need to tell them, you need to let me out of here," I said.
"Amber..." Rowan began.
"Let me out of here!" I nearly screamed.
"Amber, we have rules to follow. I have to follow conduct and-"
I leaned across the table to kiss him.
And he didn't try to stop me.
When he pulled away, I looked him straight in the eye and asked," Since when do you follow rules?"
He laughed.
"Rowan, get me out of here!" I pleaded.
"Amber, you know I can't do that. The guys would suspect that I let you go," Rowan said.
"You need to get me out of here!" I whined.
"Listen, Amber, here's the deal. I need to interrogate you about where you live with your superhero friends. Then I will let you go," Rowan said.
"You know I can't do this. I can't betray my friends," I said.
"You've told me most of your secrets already. It wouldn't hurt," he said.
"No," I said.
"Look, we've been dating for a year now. Sneaking out at midnight isn't exactly ideal, but to see you, it's worth it," he leaned down so we were at the same height,"I meant it when I told you I love you."
That's when I had an idea. Not the brightest, but it would persuade him enough. I knew his Achilles Heel.
So I kissed him. Again.
I pulled away first.
"Can I leave now?" I asked impatiently.
He sighed. "Exit through the exit E. Make sure nobody sees you."
I was untied and set free.
"I'll see you tomorrow night? At the cafe?" He asked.
I only nodded.
"Poker face, Amber. Poker face," I thought.
Rowan left and I counted to ten until I left. I turned on my night vision and kept a cloud of smoke surrounding me. I was determined to get home as fast as possible.
But what fun would that be?
I snuck around a corner and looked for the rest of the Red Eye Brothers home. I saw nobody, but as I went down a hallway, I heard noise. I moved a little closer to get a good look. I saw Rowan hanging around some kid with really long black hair. At first I thought he was a girl, but when he turned around I saw it. I knew Rowan was a telekinetic, but this kid didn't actually look like a superhero. I saw two freckled kids, beating each other up. The smaller one was flying, while the other one looked to be using something like super strength. There were two kids with blonde hair, ones was longer than the others though. The one with the longer hair had a force field around himself and was reading an Anime book. The one with the shorter hair was running around at super speeds. The last boy left was floating in and out of sight.
"Invisibility," I thought.
"Hey, what's that dark cloud near the door?" The one with short blonde hair asked.
Oh. Crap.
I made a mad dash for the exit. I could hear the footsteps behind me. I couldn't be discovered now!
I kept sprinting all the way to our hideout. When I busted out the front door, I found it dark.
"The rest of The Elites couldn't have been captured, could they?" I wondered.
I used the darkness like a cloak, and I wove it around myself. They had to be alive. Or somewhere.
If not I had nobody left.
Nobody at all.
