June

Other than the email and quick text I hadn't heard from Dalton. It was like he ghosted me, and although it hurt, I was trying not to let it consume me.
I had already noticed how he was clouding my mind. As if on cue though, my phone chimed.

What's up?

I looked at my phone and processed what this meant. He didn't disappear, but he was gone for four days. I roll my eyes at myself. 'Juliet stop, you act like you deserve to have his attention every waking moment.'

And I didn't, but I couldn't help but get excited that he texted me. He was Dalton freaking Becket for crying out loud. He texted me first. 'He was probably super busy.' I tell myself. 'He's a rock star for goodness sakes.' But I was also busy too, I also had a life outside of Dalton.

I didn't want him saying anything else to me until I was done with ballet. I needed every part of my brain to be focused on that and not Dalton. So after I read the message I turned my phone off and dropped it in my dance bag.

I'm up for one of the Pas de deux in an upcoming ballet and now is not a good time for my head to be somewhere else. A pas de deux is a dance with just one male and one female dancer, it's a big honor and not something that happens to someone as young as I am. It almost always goes to upperclassmen, so the fact that I'm being considered is a big deal.
At 9 pm he texts me as I'm walking through my front door.

Did I lose you?

I quickly reply,

Nope, here. Sorry

My phone buzzed before I got up to my room.

What are you up to?

Panic floods me, so I do the only thing I can think to do.
I run straight up to my room and call Tori.

She answers on the second ring. "Hey,"

"Help." I blurt out.

She laughs, "With what?"

"He's texting me again."

Because Tori is my best friend and just all around awesome, she knows who I'm taking about. "Okay, so text him back."
"And say what?"

"Umm, ask him about himself? You know, have a conversation?"

I bite on my fingernail, "But I feel like I know so much about him already."

"That's not fair, those are interview answers. Don't you get it? This is the moment little girls dream of. To ask their celebrity crush all of their deep dark secrets."

I laugh. "Minor celebrity."

"Pfft, he meet Miley Cyrus. Minor my ass."

My laughter stoped as I think back to his text. "He asked me what I was doing."

"Ohhkay so tell him what you're doing."

"I'm not doing anything."

She sighs, "My Gosh Jules, you're kind of helpless here."

"Tori,"

"Just say 'nothing', or 'not much you?' You are making this too hard."

"You act like you have been in a relationship before."

It was like I could hear Tori rolling her eyes, "Yeah and that's because boys are stupid, but this isn't about my love life, it's about yours. Soo, text him back, but stay on the phone, you'll probably need more help."
