Chapter 8 - A Second Family

"Here you go." She said while handing me the iced tea she made.

"Thank you."

And then...

"Well. You repaired the roof for us!"

Tegemi approaches us, it seems like it's her day off.

Looking up at the repaired roof, she nods in satisfaction.

"Thank you, Mina I guess it does really help to have a guy here."

"Until now, Miyoko's the one doing all the maintenance in this house, she may be doing a horrible job fixing things but we appreciate her effort."

"Hey..."

Tegemi giggles at her abrupt reaction.

"And not just the repairs, she's gone out of her way to do other tasks."

"Ehehehe, I guess I'm a bit meddlesome."

"You really are a kind girl."

"N-not at all!"

In response to Tegemi's words, her face turns red, and she laughs with embarrassment.

"You know! I had a lot of younger siblings, so I was always looking after them."

"It's just my old habits causing me to get involved with various things."

That's right...I had heard that she often took care of her younger siblings.

In response, Tegemi laughs teasingly.

"That's why you always take care of things and are aware of other people right?"

"Jeez, Tegemi your relentless today." She sneered as she blushes uncharacteristically her face bright red.

Seeing her like this is refreshing.

(Why...does she look so cute?!)

(Oh god! I just find her cute!)

"B-but it's fine and all that I get involved, but sometimes I screw it up!"

(more like most of the times.)

As if to hide her embarrassment, she shrugs her shoulder and sticks out her tongue.

"But the fact you're a little clumsy makes you even more lovable."

Tegemi shower her with compliments.

Uncharacteristically, even Kasumi and Yomiko faces show amusement.

"Besides, even when you do screw up, you make it work in the end." Cheered Kasumi.

"Also, Miyoko, you don't fret over things, I like that about you." Smiled Yomiko.

"Hehe, true. That's why we all rely on you, Miyoko, don't we?"

"If you weren't here, Miyoko Famille' wouldn't be possible."

"C-come on guys, what's this?"

"You're embarrassing me."

"Mina, you played the straight man, set them straight."

(she's flustered , alright this calls for...)

Feeling a little mischievous, I put on a serious expression.

"How can I retort that when, what they say is true, and I also rely on you as well, Miyoko."

"You're embarrassing me! You!"

She wailed at me with a barrage of bunny punches.

"Owww! Hey, that hurts, Miyoko."

"Ah! S-sorry I went a little too far."

"Ahahaha, you two really get along," noticed Tegemi.

"G-Get along? Can't you see she's hitting me,?"

Kasumi and Yomiko giggled at our skit.

"Ahahaha! They say the more you're hit the more you mean to that person, don't they?"

"No, they don't!"

"Eheheheheh..."

"Honestly...."

Lured in by the others, a smile spills across my face.

Amongst everyone's laughter, Miyoko gazes at the residence of Famille'.

"Hehehe, well I also rely on all of you, and I really like you all!"

"Somehow, being here makes me feel like I've found my second family, and I'm really happy."

Saying this, she flashes a radiant smile.

It seems this place that has accepted her, makes her feel truly comfortable.

(A second family...that has a nice ring to it...)

"Oh! And Mina, Of course you're part of the family as well."

"T-thanks!"

With such events transpiring. I finally feel like I am able to be open with everyone.
