"M-Mina...R-Raika..."

The next moment.

Seeing Raika's head on my lap, her expression stiffens with shock.

"Ahahaha....s-sorry! I came in at a bad time..."

"I-I'm intruding, aren't' i...?"

She desperately tries to smile, but she cannot hide sullen expression tears almost forming in her eyes and her body trembling.

"W-wait! This is not what it looks like, Miyoko..."

"It's Fine!!!"

"Eh?!"

"N-now I understand! Mina...I guess you weren't kidding when you said you're going to confess to Raika."

N-no...that was a joke."

"I understand you really like Raika."

"I said that was a joke w-what are you saying?!"

I can vaguely see tears forming in her trembling eyes.

(Is..is she crying?)

"A joke huh, waiting for her to come home this late? If you didn't like her, you wouldn't be doing that, would you...?!"

"W-what? No!"

"I said this isn't..."

"Besides you've always talked about how cute and kind Raika is!"

(Did i?)

That moment...

I realize I may have done something I can't take back. She swallows her trembling breath.

"I-I'm sorry I've teased you about Raika..."

On the verge of tears, she forces herself to smile.

"E-even...earlier on today..."

"I didn't know you were serious, Mina...I'm really sorry..."

"I told you, this is not what it looks like, it's not what you think."

"QUIT IT!!!"

Surprised by her sudden burst I couldn't retort back.

(She's not listening, what can I say to clear this misunderstanding?)

Unable to form words, I falter.

With a look of resignation, she slowly lowers her eyes.

"I-I'm sorry..."

"I shouldn't have shout, i-it's the middle of the night after all..." she smiled awkwardly.

"A-ahahaha...Hey! You don't have to hide it anymore..."

"I think you're well suited. You and Raika."

"What?"

"Yeah!"

"I'll....r-root for the two of you!"

"A-alright then, good night, I mean good morning, ehehehe..."

With a forced cheerfulness in her voice, she leaves the living room.

"M-Miyoko!"

Her painful smile is burned into my mind.

But...

(There's nothing...I can do...)
