The next day.

Neither Miyoko now I could concentrate on our lectures.

(It looks like she's still debating whether she should go to the island or not.)

(I want her dream to come true, but I don't want to be apart from her...)

"Mina..."

(But if I say something that selfish I'll only be causing heartache for her...)

"Mina...!"

"Hm?"

I raise my head in surprise, Miyoko is giving me a funny look.

"Class is over..."

"Oh, so it is, Sorry."

"It's already midday."

"Yeah."

She thinks for a moment, then whispers.

"Do you...want to eat lunch on the roof today?"

"Hm? Yeah, sure..."

I come to the roof just as Miyoko asked me to.

"It feels so good to eat out in the fresh air on a nice day like today!" she said while stretching her arms.

"Y-yeah..."

For some reas,on our conversation had become stunted.

(It's been like this ever since we heard about that island...)

Apparently what I am thinking about is written on my face.

"You're thinking about me going to that island, aren't you?"

"Eh? Uh...well."

"And you were thinking about it in class, weren't you?"

It was that obvious?

She lets out a troubled little laugh and hangs her head.

"I still haven't made up my mind yet..."

"R-right...that's understandable..."

Just then I recall something.

"That reminds me...Did you ever tell me the reason why you want to be a teacher?"

"Why do you want to be a teacher, Miyoko?"

"Oh, that's because..."

"Well, there is something that started me thinking about it..."

She seems to remember us talking about it.

"Ah! I remember that now."

"So what was that something that made you think of becoming a teacher?"

Now is an important time in deciding whether to choose the dream or stay here.

Which is why I want to hear what her thoughts are on her dream.

"Alright, I'll tell you."

"Well..."

"You remember my old high school teacher?"

"Miss Kujima?"

"Yeah, the reason I like sports, and the reason I decided to become a teacher..."

"Are both thanks to her..."

"Eh?! R-really?"

She nods, looking nostalgically up at the sky.

"I really enjoyed doing track and field with that teacher."

"And the more I ran the more I fell in love with the sport."

"And that's why I wanted to teach others how fun sports can be, just like her."

She looks sad, suddenly casting her eyes down at the ground.

"Well...because of that fight I had with my ex-best friend and my mistake at the tournament..."

"I have bad memories of track and field as well..."

"But you know what?"

Her face suddenly comes alive.

It has been a while since I last saw her looking so happy.

"No matter how bad the memory, I still love running."

"And I have always wanted to teach that love to students of my own."

"You did say you have been studying to be a teacher since first year..."

"Yeah!"

"I didn't want to give up, no matter what!"

"I don't want to give up now either!"

"Uh..."

I gulp, but Miyoko quickly waves both her hands at me.

"Th-that doesn't mean i've decided to go to that island yet though."

"Oh, okay..."

(but...)

Listening to her now, I could see it.

Her feelings towards her dream.

It is a much stronger, stable feeling than I had imagined.

(In that case...)

(In that case, I really do want her dream to come true.)

(but what can I do to help?)
