Chapter 51 - Her Choices

(I wonder if she is still deciding whether she'll go to that island or not...)

I wonder to myself as walk the halls of the Famille'

Then...

I find myself face to face with her, who has just come out from the living room.

"M-Miyoko..."

There is a moment of silence before she responds.

"Um...Mina..."

"About me going away to that island to teach..."

"Y-yeah..."

I suppress my true feelings, feigning cheerfulness.

"Well, I'm going to be doing my best so I'll need you cheering for me."

She is smiling. It's like her dark expression from earlier had never been.

"Just like you said, I can go to that island."

"And swim in the sea every day!"

"And hold track and field practice on the beach with my students!"

For some reason, she is now pumped and ready to teach on that island.

And she disappears off to her room.

I watch her go, feeling stunned.

At some point, Raika must have come into the hallway.

She's staring at me with a pained expression.

(Does she know what's up?)

She looks at me as if she had something to say, but...

She then looks away sadly before disappearing upstairs.

A few days after Miyoko decided to go to the island.

I'm walking home from the shops, all the while thinking about how she had been acting recently.
