Chapter 36 - The Track Tournament

The day of the track tournament.

The other residents and I arrive at the sports grounds.

"Wow! I didn't expect the grounds to be this big!" awed Raika.

"If we don't find any seats up the front we might not be able to see Miyoko 's race." Worried Kasumi,

"You're right...Can you see any free seats..?"

"Ah! There's some over there!" pointed Rei at the row of seats up front.

"You're right!"

We move quickly and sit down in the spectator seats.

"Whew! I 'm glad we managed to find seats." Sighed Tegemi in relief.

"Yeah."

We all take a moment to sigh in relief. Yomiko opens up the tournament program besides me.

"Um...Miyoko said she was entering the relay, didn't she?"

"Yeah. It must be time for the relay soon...?" replied Rei

Raika suddenly looks worried.

"She must be feeling nervous."

"After all, it has been three years since her last tournament."

"You're right..."

(I hope she's okay...)

I start to feel a bit worried myself.

"Which part of the relay will she run do you think..?"

"The anchor."

"Oh, the very last person...That must be never-wracking..."

"Not really, I bet she's okay now since the one she love so much kept his promise."

"Eh?"

"Hi!"

"Miyoko?!"

"W-what are you doing here?!"

"Aren't you supposed to be in the relay..?" said Raika

Miyoko sees the worried looks on our faces and laughs.

"Don't worry! There's still time until it starts."

"O-oh...if you say so..."

"But what are you doing here?"

"Ehehehe, well..."

She blushes slightly.

"Before I race, i..."

"Hm?"

"I want..."

"I just wanted to see your face, Mina!"

"Eheheheh..."

"Oh..okay."

Feeling elated I hide my smile evading everyone gaze

She fidgets about, her face flushed I find myself drawn to her.

"I-I'll be cheering for you as loud as I can!"

"Okay! And I want to feel the love too!"

"Y-you betcha!"

I nod, and give her hand a tight squeeze. Behind me I can sense the usual piercing stares.

"Urgh...I know we are subjected to this every day but for some reason it's even more obnoxious today." Sneered Yomiko.
