Hello, I haven't been active on Wattpad for about three or four months.
I just can't explain it well.
Before the situation happened, I was trying to write the next chapter. I was trying to psyche myself up, because it was going to be super important.
And then I couldn't, because of what happened.
Having time away from Wattpad helped me realize something: social media is horrible for my mental health.
In the case of Wattpad, I write a lot when I start a new book. And then I feel pressured to keep going, even when I don't feel like it. So, I avoid and procrastinate. And then I feel bad when I don't put out work consistently. And sometimes the chapters I do write are slobby. And then I feel even worse.
After all that, just doing something I love, writing, makes me feel like a horrible person.
That's when I have no one expecting my stories.
Please don't get me wrong, I love having people read my stories. But writing on social media makes me stressed out anyway, and with more reads comes more pressure.
Please don't think I'm against Wattpad, or social media in general. I just disagree with societies' expectations that we should always be doing something productive.
When everyone is thinking something like, "Go go go! We have to do this, do that! We have to do it quickly, we don't have much time," people's mental and emotional health suffer.
In an ideal world, everyone would be free of stress, so that people wouldn't have to clash with eachother at all.
That's not realistic, at all. Homosapiens are always going to have problems with eachother, with the world, and with themselves.
We just have to learn how to adjust.
I'm going to start by putting my personal hygiene (mental, social, emotional, physical) and education first, the people in my life second, and everything else last.
"Everything else" includes writing this book.
I think that I'm going to finish eventually.
But I want to finish it on my own time, with my own willpower, and hopefully without making my personal health worse.
So I might not be active for a while.
