Yuya and Yuto
The couple held onto each other's hands tightly as they walked along the lake. Yuya smiled as he watched the reflection of the stars in the water. "It's so pretty," He murmured. "And you come here every year?" Yuto nodded. This year was different however, he finally had the chance to spend this time with Yuya and tonight, he would unviel his plan on buying them their own home in the new year. The pair came to stop as Yuya pointed to a spot on the hill, "That place looks good. It has a bench next to it for Lulu."
Yuto agreed on the spot, as people had started ti set up for the fireworks display, it was a case of; grab the spot now or never. The set down the large blanket they had next to the bench, "Yuya, stay here and I'll run and grab some drinks." Yuya nodded as he sat in the middle of area while Yuto ran off.
The smile on his face never went. The sky was beautiful, the lake was calm and the sound of children playing made him feel content. When he was younger, he admits he wanted nothing more than to meet the boy he saved and watched from afar for many years, to actually fall in love with him was something he only ever dreamt of. Thinking of this he placed a hand on his chest where his mark is. Yuya now had the chance to be with Yuto forever and the mark proved that is was fate. Though it would mean living the majority of his life human, while not impossible, might prove difficult as he would need to return to the water from time to time if he wanted to keep his mermaid side. Though, he liked being human. He never felt more accepted in a community but not being able to have the choice at the moment restricted him and meant that if people discovered his true identity then he may be forced to leave or worse, captured as a pet by spiteful humans.
Yuya was so lost in thought that he hadn't notice Yuto return with drinks and Lulu and Dennis also. "Wake up Yuya," Lulu laughed sitting on the bench. Yuya blinked looking at the group.
"You okay?" Yuto said worriedly as he sat next to his lover. He placed a hand on Yuya's forehead trying to feel for a fever.
"I was just thinking," Yuya blushed. "I was thinking about how happy I am here and how I want to make Yuto the happiest person in the world." The sentence made Yuto smile widely and in appreciation for the thought, kissed Yuya on his forehead. He too wanted to make Yuya happy so to have a shared dream meant he had more confidence than ever for their future. "Y-yuto, I want to get a job!"
The sudden confession caused them all to jump. "A job?" Yuto repeated. He thought for a moment, he knew eventually Yuya would be bored of just sitting at home but to think about a job on his own showed maturity. "Well I'm sure that Declan can help there. I know that part of the programme is to place me-people into work." Yuto had to be careful of what he said. Dennis did not yet know, or need to know, that Yuya was actually a mermaid. It would eventually come out but for now there was no point in telling him.
"Oh, I know somewhere," Lulu spoke up happily, gaining the attention. "Yuya is very creative, so what about the florist on 3rd street. I know the girl who works there. I'm sure that Yuya would make lovely bouquets for people."
Yuya's eyes widened, he was being given a wonderful opportunity so all he could do was nod. "Thank you Lulu," Yuto thanked. "While we're speaking about the future, Yuya would you like to go house hunting?"
"Does this mean?" Lulu gasped excitedly.
"Yes, Yuya after Christmas, would you like to move in with me?" Yuya felt his heart skip a beat. Yuto was asking him to find their own home, somewhere to call their own. In joy he threw himself into Yuto's arms. "I'll take that as a yes."
"Hey what did we miss?" Came Crow's voice as he, Emi and the kids found them.
"We'll explain later." Yuto laughed as he cuddled Yuya.
Soon Declan and Shay joined them, everyone sitting on the blanket looking forward as the announcement was made to indicate the display was starting. Yuya, his head still nestled in Yuto's chest turned to watch the view. He felt Yuto kiss the top of his head as the display began. The way the colours danced in the sky memorised him and the warmth of Yuto's love captured him. Yes, this was truly the life he wanted.
