He's been in his room since we came home two hours ago," Emi sighed as she continued to pour a drink for Declan who currently sat on the sofa. Once she finished the drink, Emi placed in on a coaster in front of Declan before sitting opposite him. "I'm a bit worried he may have gone into slight shock."
"It is indeed a predicament I didn't expect," Declan mused. "Do you know of a way a mermaid can become fully human?"
Emi shook her head. If there was a method, as a younger generation she probably wasn't allowed to know of it. The thought had crossed her mind, she had asked Yuri about it but even he was unaware. "I'm not sure what I can do," Emi sniffled. "This may sound harsh, but if I knew that humans lived half our life span, I would have not allowed Yuya back here. I would have gone as far as wiping his memory."
Declan's eye widen. Mermaids had the ability to erase memories? This was certainly something that he would need to keep quiet from documentation as should the public find out, it could cause uproar. "Surely you can't just erase him memories now," He questioned raising an eye brow. "He and Yuto, from my understanding, have already formed a bond. Meaning Yuya is mated for life."
"You think I don't realise that?" Emi snapped gripping onto her legs, nails digging into her skin. Declan watched as tears feel onto her hands. "My job is to protect him and I failed! Not only does this now affect Yuya but Yuto and everyone Yuya has come into contact with. What am I going to do?"
Emi was shocked as Declan placed a hand over her own. She had failed, she didn't learn anything during her time as a human. She allowed Yuya to fall in love with a human, allowed him to mate without knowing the effects. "There is no need to feel at fault," Declan advised. "Part of this is my fault for not teaching you and Yuya more about life on the land, for that I am sorry. Please allow me to try and rectify my mistakes. If there is a way for Yuya to become human, or even for Yuto to become a mermaid, I will make it happen." Tears fell from Emi's eyes faster. She was grateful for Declan's support, she truly was. "Though I believe you have some explaining to do to Crow, do you not?"
Giving a simple nod, Emi knew what she would have to do. After providing Declan with the information of the flower shop Yuri worked at. Perhaps Yuri knew more than he was letting on but the only way to find out was to talk to him more. After Declan left Emi opened the door to Yuya's room. He was curled up in the blankets, with his legs showing however and soft snores could be heard. At a closer glance you could see his eyes were sore from crying and his cheeks were puffy. She sighed, laying down next to Yuya, facing him, and wrapping an arm around him in a protective manner. Her mind wandered to their parents, what would they say? Probably something like, 'This is why we aren't allowed near humans' or something along those lines. "Goodnight Yuya," She whispered allowing herself to drift off into a slumber.
The following morning Yuya woke first. He shifted his body slightly as tried to sit up, it was then he opened his eyes noticing his sister lying next to him with a firm grip on his body. He groaned as he started to shake her by her shoulder. "This is my bed," He whined as he yawned loudly. Emi yawned herself slowing sitting up. "Why are you in my bed?"
Emi smiled sadly pulling Yuya into a hug, "Just because," was all she said stroking Yuya's back as he wrapped his arms around her. "You want some breakfast?"
Yuya nodded, following Emi to the kitchen, the blankets that covered the upper of his body still wrapped tightly. His stomach growled as he thought of the possibilities of what to eat seeing as since he left the shop yesterday, he hadn't actually eaten anything. Sitting at the table in silence Yuya's mind wandered. Yesterday before sleeping he listened to the conversation between Emi and Declan, he was happy people were trying, trying so hard to ensure that the and Yuto could remain together but could he escape the reality that actually, it might not be able to happen.
Rapid knocking from the front door brought his attention back t the real world. Emi raised as eyebrow opening the door only to have Shay and Yuto barge in. Yuto ignored Emi running over to Yuya hugging him tightly "Did neither of you think to answer any phone call?" Shay growled causing Emi to jump. She blushed realising her phone must have died in the night so naturally she wouldn't have heard it ring. "We've been trying to contact you since six this morning!"
"We were worried sick," Yuto cried. "We thought-" he couldn't finish his sentence. Yuya's expression dropped, how was he meant to face Yuto knowing what he now knew. Yuto showered Yuya with kisses but stopped as he felt Yuya not responding back. "Yuya?"
"I'm sorry," Yuya gave a fake smile. "We won't worry you again."
"Okay, now that we know you two are okay, get dressed!" Shay barked.
"What's the rush?" Yuya asked as Yuto helped him up. The worry in Yuto's eyes grew darker. "Yuto? What's happened?"
"Lulu," Shay replied, his voice still dark. "She's in hospital."
