Roman groaned as he woke up to vervain ropes burning his skin.
The mask from the masquerade still on his face and digging into his skin.
"Lena."
Roman whispered.
The doppelgänger rushed over untying the ropes and ripping Roman's mask off.
"Hey Ro, there are two vampires here."
Elena warned Roman helping him move out of the wooden chair and onto the dirty couch.
Elena held out her wrist as Roman shook his head.
"Lena I can't-"
"Just enough for you to stand on your own."
Roman sighed biting into her wrist and feeding, thankful he didn't find it hard to stop.
Roman tore a piece of his suit wrapping it around Elena's wrist.
She nodded toward another hallway as Roman followed her.
"If he accepts our deal, we're free."
Roman heard an all too familiar voice say.
Elena stepped out, much to Roman's protest, and made herself known to the other vampires.
"Who's Elijah?"
Roman's blood quickly boiled over as he stormed into the hallway as well.
"You called Elijah? Are you out of your absolute minds!"
Roman shouted in Rose's face.
"Nice to see you too Roman."
Rose sighed as Trevor walked to her side.
"I've been calling him for months and he hasn't answered a single one of my calls! Did you know that?"
Roman shouted at the two as Elena stood back watching the vampires interact.
"He mentioned you two were having problems."
Trevor sighed as Roman pulled at his hair.
"What are you so worked up over?"
Rose asked as Roman clenched his fist.
"I'm not sure if you're aware but Niklaus and Elijah no longer have the same goals."
Roman whispered sharply to Rose.
"Why don't you calm down."
Roman couldn't react before Trevor snapped his neck once again.

Roman woke up groggily, Trevor tossing him a blood bag as they listened to Rose explain the real 'sun and moon' curse to Elena.
Along with their past.
"Who were you running from?"
"The originals."
Trevor tells her.
"Yeah, she said that. What does that mean?"
Elena asked.
Rose and Trevor both looked to Roman knowing he was more knowledgeable then the others.
"The originals are the first lineage of vampires. Trevor here pissed them off majorly, Rose helped him escape."
"What did you do?"
Elena asked him.
"He did what all idiots do."
Roman smirked throwing the empty blood bag a Trevor.
"He trusted Katerina Petrova."
Rose sighed.
"Katherine."
"The one and only, the first Petrova Doppelgänger."
Roma rolled his eyes.
"That's wrong."
He mumbled.
"I helped her escape her fate and now I've, sorry, we've been marked ever since."
Trevor rolled his eyes.
"Which is why we're not gonna make the same mistake again."
Rose told them determined.

"He's here!"
Trevor shouted as Roman's blood ran cold.
"You absolute morons should've let me help you hide instead of calling him here."
Roman growled at the two intimidatingly.
"No, I told you I would get us out of this. You have to trust me."
Rose tried to reassure Trevor.
"No! He wants me dead, Rose!"
"He wants her more. Roman's a bonus."
Rose gave a sympathetic smile to the Salvatore.
"I can't do this. You give her to him, he'll have mercy on you but I need to get out of here."
"Hey! What are we?"
"We're family, forever."
Roman almost felt bad for the two.

"You're scared."
Elena stated stupidly. Of course they're scared.
"Stay here with her and don't make a sound."
Roman sighed pacing in the middle of the room as he prepared to see Elijah.
"Don't not provoke him Elena. I mean it."
Roman whispered harshly to her.
Roman kept his back turned as Elijah entered the room walking up to Elena.
"Hello there."
Elijah's naturally sultry voice almost made Roman's knees weak.
"Roman Lee, forgive me for ignoring you."
Roman glared seeing Elijah's smirk.
"No thanks I'm good."
Roman gave a tight fake smile.
"Lose the attitude Ro."
"You're not my dad Elijah, screw off."
Roman hissed as Elijah chuckled.
"Well someone should call 1999 and let them know you weren't talking to me that night."
Roman clenched his jaw as he saw Elena's eyes widen.
"I'm not in the mood for your proper bullshit Elijah."
Roman glared, he'd never been so fed up with the original in his life.
"You should be thankful he doesn't know you've been hiding her."
"I haven't been hiding her, I've been letting Klaus focus. I will tell him when he has all he needs."
Roman glared getting in Elijah's face.
"We have a long journey head of us. We should be going."
Elijah went back to the task at hand.
"Please, don't let him take me."
Elena begged Rose.
"One last piece of business and we're done."
Elijah shot a smirk at Roman and the Salvatore couldn't help but grin back.
"I've waited so long for this day, Elijah. I'm truly, very sorry."
Trevor said shakily as Elijah approached him.
"Oh no, your apology's not necessary."
"Yes, yes it is. You trusted me with Katerina and I failed you."
Roman walked to Elijah's side, the anger almost void from his mind.
"Oh yes, you are the guilty one and Rose aided you because she was loyal to you and that I honor. Where was your loyalty?"
Elijah's cold voice echoed in the house.
"I beg your forgiveness."
Trevor pleaded.
Elijah shot a look to Roman as he smirked.
"So granted."
Roman spoke for Elijah.
Elijah lifted his hand swinging it and knocking Trevor's head straight off.
"You-"
"Don't, Rose, now that you are free."
Elijah warned boredly wiping his hands on his handkerchief.
"Come."
Elijah demanded.
"No, what about the moonstone?"
Roman clenched his jaw.
"What the hell did I tell you Elena?"
Roman was enraged, all he had done Elijah was about to undo.
"You found the moonstone as well? Good thing I showed up when I did."
Roman glared as Elijah teased him.
Roman watched as Elijah compelled Elena easily.
"What is that?"
The vampires heard something smash in the house.
"I don't know."
Rose shook her head.
"Who else is in this house?"
Elijah asked.
"I don't know."
Rose repeated.
"Come Roman."
Roman followed Elijah as he dragged Elena with him.
Elijah shoved Elena toward Roman and he grabbed his friends arm.
"Rose."
Elijah said pointedly.
"I don't know who it is."
"Up here."
Roman chuckled hearing his twins voice.
Elijah sped upstairs looking around.
"Down here."
Damon's voice.
In a split second Elena and Rose has disappeared and Roman remained by Elijah's side.
"Excuse me. To whom it may concern, you're making a great mistake if you think that you can beat me. You can't. Do you hear that?"
Roman broke part of an old coat hanger throwing the makeshift stake to Elijah.
"I repeat, you cannot beat me. So I want the girl, I'm gonna count to three or heads will roll. Do we understand each other?"
Elena walked down the stairs slowly as Elijah lowered the stake.
"I'll come with you, just please don't my friends, they just wanted to help me out."
God was Elena an awful actress.
"What game are you playing with me?"
Suddenly Elena threw a grenade in his face as Stefan and Damon came out of hiding.
Next thing Roman knew, Elijah was pinned to the door a stake through his chest.
He sighed walking up to the temporarily dead original and slipping a note in his suit pocket.
'I forgive you for being a dick.'

"How did you know him?"
Damon asked as he and Roman sat in the parlor.
"Just a thing back in the late nineties. The only person I'd fallen in love with after Enzo had just died, I was lonely.
I'd known Elijah's brothers well in the 1920's decided to help them again.
Everything just happened."
Roman shrugged throwing back his drink.
"So that's who's secrets you're protecting."
Damon realized as Roman merely shrugged.
"Something's are better left unsaid big brother."
