The next day Owen had to go to the store to get food, so he grabbed the kids and now they were in the car. "Hey dad! when we get there can we get some candy?" Owen's overexcited son asked.
"Maybe, it depends on how you behave, Dominick." Owen replied with a sigh.
"Okay!" The little one replied.
Owen parked the car and they got out. It was a chilly October day, Owen held Dominick's hand while Gabrielle walked next to them. They went inside of the little cramped store and Owen got in line to get the things he needed. Dominick was very patient and quiet while he got the things he needed. He paid and left.
"Hey daddy?"
"Yes Dominick?"
"Can we go to the park?"
Owen was silent for a moment, contemplating his answer. After a minute he spoke, "I don't see why not." He shrugged.
"YAYAYAYAYAY!" Dominick screeched in happiness. Owen winced, his ears dying. He got the kids in the car, not noticing how Gabrielle was looking at him, worried. He hasn't smiled once today, and he was very quiet. Owen drove them to the park. They got out and Dominick instantly started running around. Owen sat down on a bench and Gabrielle sat next to him.
Owen looked at her, "Aren't you gonna go run around?"
"No, I'd rather sit here with you. I don't wanna leave you lonely, like mom does." Gabrielle replied.
"She doesn't lea-"
Gabrielle cut him off, "Yes she does, Owen. I know it's none of my business, but, she does."
"It's not like that." Owen said defensively. He looked over, away from Gabrielle. That's when he saw the worst thing he could imagine. Ariana was just a few yards away, in her ex's arms. They were kissing.
"Owen?" Gabrielle looked where he was looking and she gasped. "Oh no..."
Silent tears were streaming down Owen's face. Ariana looked over and she jumped, seeing Owen. "OWEN WAIT!" She called out to her husband, but it was too late. Gabrielle was already forcing Owen back to the car with Dominick.
Thankfully Gabrielle was taught how to drive by Owen, because Owen was practically frozen. She hopped in the driver seat after putting Dominick in the back and Owen in the passenger seat. She drove back to their house in the country where she helped Owen into the house...
