Annabeth was perfectly content with a good novel, some fuzzy socks, and a boyfriend to cuddle with. Percy was not.

The one problem was that ALL of Annabeth's attention was diverted onto her novel and none of it went to Percy. Even though they were cuddling and Percy had tried everything he knew, including using his puppy dog eyes, he couldn't pull the blond from her book.

"Annaabeeeeth pay attention to me," he whined and flopped his head onto the book.

Annabeth expertly maneuvered the book away from the mop of black hair and scrunched her brow. "Just five more pages,"

Percy's groan sounded like a dying whale. "But that's what you said an hour ago," He shifted so she could see his green eyes and pouted. "Do you love that book more than me?"

Annabeth didn't respond, she was too busy reading. Percy sat up with a huff. "Well, I guess I'll just have to go get ice cream all by myself."

The blond's gray eyes slowly peeled away from her book. "Ice cream?" she asked hopefully. She had been so busy working that she had skipped lunch and then forgotten to eat when she picked up her book.

"Yeah ice cream," Percy said with a sorrowful sniff. "And there will be no one who will share their strawberry flavor with me," He shifted Annabeth off his lap and she frowned as all his warmth left. "I guess I'm just going to go now and get only mint chocolate chip because no one else will go with me...."

With a sigh, Annabeth pushed herself off the couch and stretched. "Stop being such a seaweed brain. I'll go with you to get some ice cream,"

Instantly Percy's mood did a 180 turn. "Ice cream!!" he hollered and zoomed to the front door of their apartment. Annabeth rolled her eyes and grabbed the keys then headed outside.

Percy was practically bouncing in the elevator and he almost ran over three pedestrians, one crossing guard, and eight trash bins in his enthusiasm. Ice cream and Annabeth are his most favorite things in the entire world.

They parked the car and Percy dragged Annabeth into their favorite ice cream parlor, Ambrosia.

They ordered their usual. An Athenian blend for Annabeth with a swirl of strawberry, vanilla, and flecks of chocolate. And for Percy, the Poseidon's Monster Tidal wave which was made up of mint chocolate, blue raspberry, and gummy bears.

Once they had gotten their food, they sat outside on quaint chairs watched the New York traffic. Percy had a massive smirk on his face.

"What?" asked Annabeth with her mouth full of ice cream.

Percy lay his arm across her shoulders and shrugged. "I just don't think that a book could've bought you ice cream,"
