Percy was freaking out. He finally worked up the courage to ask Annabeth on a dinner date and was frantically searching through his stuff to find something decent to wear.
"Dude, chill. You've known Annabeth for years. It's not like she'll ditch you," Grover sighed. "Just pick something casual but nice."
Percy checked is watch, 10 minuets left till he had to pick her up. "Oh freaking Hades, I can't be late," He zoomed to his closet and grabbed the first clean thing he saw and tugged it on. "Grover how do I look?"
"Teeth brushed?" "Check" "Clean clothes?" "Double check" "And most important, the flower?" "Triple check"
Satisfied that he had everything, Percy grabbed his keys, waved goodbye to Grover, and ran out the door.

"Uh- I- um you look nice Annabeth" he stuttered. She had done just a touch of makeup and gone with a simple jeans, t-shirt, and a red jacket.
"Not to bad yourself Seaweed Brain," she smirked. "Where are we going for dinner?" They waved good bye to Mr. Chase and Percy gave her a quick peck on the cheek when they were out of sight. They hopped into his car and started driving aimlessly.
Percy flushed when she glanced down at the floorboard to find an old-fashioned picnic basket. "I thought it'd be kinda cool to go to Central Park and eat there but we totally don't have to I mean it was just an idea an-"
"That sounds great," Annabeth said with a smile and reached over to lightly squeeze his hand, effectively stopping the rambling.

Soon the couple had a picnic blanket spread out in the grass and were chatting happily. Then Annabeth frowned, "Did you feel that?" she said and shook her blond ponytail. "It felt like a raindrop,"
"It's probably from the rain last night just dripping off the trees. I wouldn't worry about it," Percy said confidently and ever-so-causally stretched and put his arm around Annabeth.
She blushed and Percy suppressed a grin when she leaned into him with a sigh. Soon another drop splashed on Percy's nose and another on Annabeth's leg and another and another soon it was a decided drizzle. "I think it's time to go," Annabeth muttered. Rain was not her favorite thing.
Percy nodded and gathered up their things. In no time, it was a downpour and completely drenched Percy and Annabeth. He held his jacket over her the best he could but the jacket was sopping so it wasn't much help. She yelped as a car ran through a puddle and splashed her from head to toe. Both of them were wet, cold, and miserable, until Percy spotted the biggest puddle he had ever seen.
His eyes widened. "Annabeth Annabeth LOOK that is the biggest puddle ever! We have to go jump in it!"
Annabeth was not in the mood. She just wanted to get back to the car and be warm and dry. "No kelp head I'm already soaked to the bone,"
"That's why it won't matter," Percy whined. She started walking again and he discreetly stepped into a puddle that splashed up the back of her legs.
She gasped and whirled around. "Oh it is on!"
