"It's really a stunning color Annabeth! Like dark blue but not,"

Annabeth sighed. She had been trying for months to learn about the color green but nothing seemed to do it justice. The trees, the grass, everything that was supposed to be green, was a dull brown. And no matter how her friends tried, they couldn't describe it.

Piper and Hazel were lucky. They had already found their soulmates. Piper has Jason, a tall blond with icy blue eyes. Hazel has Frank, a Chinese-Canadian teddy bear with eyes like chocolate.

The deadline for a soulmate was by both of their 21st birthdays. Annabeth's was coming up soon and she was loosing hope fast. "I just don't know Piper. It seems like I'm never going to find him. Even Nico and Will already have their full colors!"

Hazel patted her back sympathetically. "I'm sure he'll show up! How about we invite a bunch of people to your birthday party this year?"

Annabeth groaned. What she really wanted to do was sit in her room, eat, and cry. But with the excited look on her friends faces, she knew she just couldn't say no. "Fine. But nothing completely over the top okay?"

Both of them jumped up and danced around her apartment in victory. "You're gonna have the best birthday party ever!"

                                                       .................................................................

"This is my party?" Annabeth gasped. There was music, flashing lights, games, food, and so many guys. "How do you know all these people?"

Hazel giggled adorably. "We don't! We just told the boys to tell anyone to bring a plus three and voila! Instant guest list!"

A rowdy group of boys started climbing trees in the venue and Piper rushed to intervene before there was a hospital visit. One of them sauntered over to where Hazel and Annabeth were standing. He draped and arm across Annabeth's shoulders and grinned.

"Hey, is your phone in your back pocket?" he smirked. "Cause your butt is calling me,"

Annabeth immediately became uncomfortable. That pickup line was very strange and she still couldn't see green so he was definitely not her soulmate.

"The name's Luke," the boy smiled. "And happy 21st birthday sweetheart," Hazel murmured that she was going to find Frank to help and scurried off into the crowd to find help.

Luke leaned closer and Annabeth wondered if she could get more uncomfortable. "Uh, hey. Um do you mind backing up?"

In the lights of the party, she could see a scar running down his face. He leaned down, "I'm sure that's not what you meant baby," Luke leaned in more and held Annabeth's waist.

"Hey!" a voice shouted from behind them. "You heard what she said. Back up you creep."

Annabeth whirled around and spotted a boy jogging towards them. It was too dark to tell but he seemed to have messy black hair and a blue? black? sweatshirt. All of his face was hidden. He ran up and edged between her and Luke.

Luke snarled and stumbled off muttering curses. "My name's Percy," the rescuer said. "What's yours?"

She smiled, even though he couldn't see it in the dark. "Annabeth Chase," Suddenly she was being enveloped in a warm hug. It was strangely comforting. It didn't feel intrusive like Luke.

"I'm so sorry," Percy whispered. "I know what it's like to go through a 21st birthday without a soulmate. Don't loose hope yet. Maybe your soulmate is younger than you,"

Annabeth froze. "Come with me," she ordered. Taking a hold of Percy's hand, she dragged him towards the streetlight. She glanced at her watch which read 11:58. The blond had two minutes before she lost all hope of ever finding a soulmate.

Percy stumbled along, laughing. "Hey! What are you doing Annabeth?"

She didn't answer and furiously tried to push through the crowd. There were so many people. Hazel was calling for her with Frank but Annabeth pushed forward. 11:59

"Come on, come on," she muttered. There were too many people, they were never going to make it.

A tear slipped out of the corner of her gray eye. She heard an electronic click behind her. Annabeth spun around and faced a blinding light. She stilled completely. It was Percy's phone flashlight.

Then she was being swept off her feet and spun around and around. "It's you!" Percy yelled. "Oh my God- your eyes- they're so beautiful!"

When the world stopped spinning, Annabeth cupped her hands on Percy's face. His eyes, they were like nothing she had ever seen before. They were a stunning, deep, fathomless green.

They were the eyes of her soulmate.
