" There you are! I need a ride to another party!" Jade shouted.

Backing away from Brandon, I turned to see Jade staggering towards us clearly drunk.

"And after, you can go pick up that tramp Belle," she continued, not realizing I was standing right there.

I looked at her with shock, I knew she did not like me but, to call me a tramp! Certainly, I was not a homeless person who travels on foot, because that was the meaning of the word. With her words being like venom in a snake, I desperately wanted to get further away, but the one thing that brought me here, also stopped me from leaving, Brandon. He placed a hand around my waist and pulled me to his side.

"What was that you called Belle?" Brandon said, drawing me closer and his eyes shooting daggers at Jade.

"You know what I said,'' she replied still a few feet away but you could smell the alcohol on her.

What was with this girl? Could she not see I was standing right here? Well now we know who should not be intoxicated. Suddenly, her eyes darted up and I knew she recognized me from the scowl on her face.

"Ohh... I see you already have the brat. Am I interrupting something?" she said in a childish voice," Was she about to get her first and last kiss?"

I could feel the anger boiling inside of me and tears hot in my eyes as she continued making me feel worse every second. I stayed quiet because, if I was to tell her off, I would stop halfway and break down in tears. She was partly correct, this could be my last kiss but I was not going to give her anything again to ridicule me on.

"Jade, I think you should leave now," Brandon pointed to the door and made his way over to his sister and sent her down the stairs," Ask Simon for a drop, not me."

I walked over to a bench and sat, only to feel a few minutes later, it dipped down indicating someone was next to me.

"Belle, I'm so sorry about that," Brandon said lifting my head to be eye level with his.

His eyes showed concern and it was soft, as if desperately hoping I was fine.

"Hey, don't worry about her, she's just jealous. You have something she doesn't,"

"You got that right," I mumbled then laughed at my joke.

Brandon stared at me confused for a moment but sure enough, he soon joined me.

Together we sat on that cold night, staring out into the city and laughing, forgetting all the wrong that happened and remembering only the good so far on our 'date'. I felt his hand caressing mine and looked down at them, our two hands on the bench. Mine resting on the wooden surface and Brandon's making small circles on the back of my hand.

"Ready to go? I have one last thing to show you," another smile crept to his face.

"Ok, but this is going to be hard to beat," I motioned my hand around us.

After saying our goodbyes, we were on the road again and soon I saw the shore. Brandon was taking me to a beach, but not just any beach. North Shore my favourite. It was close to my apartment and so, I basically grew up there but, how did he know? I never told him so how did he find out? He parked the car and then we had a race to the shore.

Before I could gloat about my winning, Brandon tackled me to the ground and tickled me, sand got everywhere, in my clothes, hair and a little in my eyes and mouth. By the time I finally pushed him off me and tried to get back at him, all the people on the beach were staring at us. I surrendered since it was hopeless and dusted the sand off me.

He laughed and pulled me alongside him. Together we walked to the set of rocks that prevented the place from being flooded during a high tide, and sat.

"Belle, I was wondering, would you like to be my girlfriend?" he asked shyly, passing a hand though his thick hair.

"Girlfriend?" I said my eyebrows raised.

"Yea Belle. I really like you. You are different, special, kind, loving and caring. I love how you put everyone before yourself. Did you know you do that?"

"No,"

I never really though about it. Nikki and my mom always said that it is better to help someone if you can, and it is true. You feel much better than you would normally do.

"Well, you do and your smile, it is beautiful. You give out smiles and happiness like they don't cost anything-"

"It's because they don't,'' I laughed and felt my cheeks heat up a little more. Brandon laughed then continued.

"I like your wit and how you treat everyone the same no matter what. It is like you don't care about money or status, you just like to make people happy. Like what you did for Nikki, buying her the paints."

I blushed brighter," Wait, how do you know about that?"

"Nikki told me. She talked about you a lot."

I buried my face in my hands, to hide from my embarrassment," So Nikki just randomly began talking about me?"

"No...I might have asked," he said equally embarrassed.

"Ohh,"

"So Belle, would you like to be my girlfriend?"

I stared into his eyes thinking of the two choices I had. If I said 'yes' I would be with the one who made butterflies appear, my heart leap, my face flush and my clumsiness appear out of the blue. Saying 'no' would mean, I would never have to experience a heartache, a breakup or anything like that.

What did I really want?
