There's many legends of the "animal whisperer" or the "creature tamer" that float around, it's brought up by everyone at least once a day in the small town of Dewherst. No one knows if they are true, but there are many "sightings" of the mysterious person, always claimed to be a young man in black, his face hidden, yet no one has discovered who he is.
I sigh, staring up at my ceiling as I lay in bed. There's nothing to do here, and my parents don't want me going out right now since they have guests over and it would be rude to leave in the midst of their book study. It's the towns only, and thus most respectable, group of people who love books to the extent that they'd love to even simply talk about them. Why did today have to be the day that it was our turn to house them? I sigh again, rolling over and grabbing my pen and some paper. I scoop up a spider and draw a circle around it, watching it's frantic movements to escape the trap. I glance around before leaning close to it, whispering softly.
"It's okay, it won't hurt you." The spider looks up for a moment before hesitantly stepping on the ink. As soon as it realizes I was telling the truth it scampers away, most likely to let it's family know of the trick. I shrug, placing the paper back down. Sure, that was entertaining and all, but that was one of the tiniest creatures, and only one of them. My face lights up as I see about a hundred ants crawling on the floor in a line. I freeze as I hear a thump, followed by an exclamation.
"Oh dear! I am so sorry about dropping that, it-" Whoever it is gets cut off kindly by my mother, saying something quietly, that I don't hear. I refocus on the ants who seem undisturbed by the noise, continuing to march in a straight line. I crouch down, lying on my stomach so I'm as close to them as possible.
"Hey, could you do me a favor?" I whisper, so quiet I can barely hear myself. The leader looks up, nodding slightly. I swear, no one realizes just how intelligent animals really are, even insects and arachnids "Could you go downstairs and freak them out? Just march around them in circles, but be careful, they might try to hurt you. They just don't understand you guys." I continue, a sympathetic look on my face. The leader nods, using it's antennas to communicate this to the others. I watch them march the rest of the way across my room, silently opening my door as they get to it. I sit down on the top of the stairs, hiding behind the railing and just watching everything unfold. They make it down the stairs without being noticed and start walking around the group in circles, waiting for them to notice.
"AHHHHHH! WhAt tHe hEcK is tHAt?!" One of the group members yells, pointing at the ants. A ripple goes through the line and the leader looks to me, knowing danger is about to ensue for them. I slam my door open as though I wasn't already sitting there, a fake concerned look on my face.
"Oh, some ants? I can handle that." I say gently, walking downstairs calmly. I crouch by them, whispering to them as I pretend to shoo them away "Pretend like I'm scaring you, okay? They might start to get suspicious otherwise." I whisper, almost mouthing it to them. The leader nods again and starts heading back towards the stairs.
"Won't they go in your room Virgil?" Mom asks, worry on her face. I turn to her and shrug.
"They might, but I don't mind. What's the point in killing them when they work so hard to survive?" I say lightly, looking at her inquisitively.
"Alright." She says slowly, still unsure. I shrug again, and realize this is my chance.
"Hey mom, is it alright if I go out for a while? I'll be back before noon, I promise." I say, knowing there's no way she'll reject me while others are watching. She sighs, sending a cheerful yet pointed look at me, letting me know she isn't really mad.
"Fine, but keep to your word." She says, and I'm out the door in a flash, grabbing my cloak quickly on the way.
"Thanks mom!" I call over my shoulder, earning a chuckle. I positively sprint into the forest, running as fast as I can until I make it to the clearing, not wanting to waste any time. I pull my hood over my head, hiding my face behind my bangs. I don't like getting recognized, but with my father a worker at the palace and my mom one of the most respectful librarians in the kingdom it's hard not to unless I cover my face. If I'm not alone I don't mind it as much, and usually keep my cloak inside my pocket instead. I sigh once more, breathing in the fresh air. I hold out my hand and whistle lowly, waiting patiently for her to come. A majestic white horse slowly trots into the clearing and outs her head gently underneath my outstretched hand.
"Hi Meadow." I say softly, stroking her head. She practically nuzzles into the touch, it's been almost a week since I've been able to see her since we had to stay at the palace for a few days. She pokes at my pocket, silently asking for food. I smile.
"Yes, I brought you apples." I say gently, reaching into my pocket. I always carry a few around, just in case, and it's easy to deflect by saying that they're for if I get hungry. Plus they're considered good luck charms by most, so it's not all that suspicious. She eats them happily, ducking her head once she's finished.
"You want to go for a ride?" I ask quietly, smiling wider. She nods and I climb carefully onto her back, letting her take control and lead me wherever she wants, I hold onto my hood with one hand, not wanting to show my face just in case, and loosely around her neck with the other. She takes off galloping, prancing through the forest quietly. I feel her start to tense and she turns abruptly, like she remembered something troubling.
"What is it?" I ask cautiously, looking down at her. She neighs, worry and concern clear on her face. Another is hurt and won't listen to anyone, we need to help them before they hurt one of you. I sit up straight, a determined look stealing across my face.
"Let's help them then." I say, and she starts running even faster. Once we get close she starts to slow down slightly, gently dropping me onto the ground. I look down and see a small, midnight black horse curled up by my feet, a large gash on it's stomach. I glance up slightly and see the prince and his medics standing a few feet away, staring in wonder. I kneel down to the thrashing creature, speaking softly.
"Hey, it's alright. They don't want to hurt you, they just want to help. It may hurt a little, but if they don't do anything the pain will only get worse." I say quietly, not wanting the prince and his vets to hear. It slowly nods, relaxing slightly "I just have one question for you, not to be rude. Are you a boy or a girl? If I don't ask they're gonna check, and I don't want you to go through that. Nod once for girl, and twice for boy." I add carefully, looking down with a gentle gaze. It nods twice, looking up thankfully at me. I nod, standing up quickly.
"Meadow, stand watch over him, I'm going to speak with the prince for a moment." I say, pulling my hood tighter. She nods and I walk over to them, watching their shell-shocked expressions.
"What were you doing? How did you get it to calm down?" The prince asks, but I shrug him off. I make sure to make my voice lower, there's no reason to risk my identity.
"Not important. What the real question is, who would do this type of thing? Those very obviously aren't an animal's claw marks, they were made with a sword. He'll be calmer now, so you can treat him, but how did he get hurt in the first place?" I ask, unable to keep at least some of the anger out of my voice. He looks startled for a moment before quickly recovering.
"Someone was hunting and jumped on it, thinking it to be some sort of animal for food. What do you mean he? Is it a-?" He cuts himself off as I nod curtly, glaring slightly though he can't see it.
"Yes, but what kind of person would assume a young horse to be a game animal?" He shrugs, examining me more closely.
"Who are you?" He asks suddenly, making me flinch slightly. I take a small step back.
"It's not important." I say, trying to sound assertive. He looks confused and surprised.
"Yes it is. There are many rumors about you, why are you so determined to keep yourself a secret." I flinch harder this time. So it's been me the rumors of an animal tamer is about, I've always kinda suspected it but I never truly believed it until now. I back up a few more steps.
"Why do you care?" I spit back harshly, my anxiety running high. Even more surprise and slight guilt enter his eyes as he tries to correct himself.
"I didn't mean it like that. I just wonder why you try so hard to make sure no one knows who you are, or if you're even real." I back up a few more paces, too anxious to respond anymore. Meadow notices and comes over, looking at me worriedly before turning and glaring at Roman.
"Did- did that horse just glare at you?" A professional looking man asks from beside prince Roman. He glances back at him, just as surprised.
"You tell me Logan." He mutters back, his eyes trained on Meadow, who simply snorts.
"Take care of the other horse, he's still badly injured." I say carefully, before quickly hopping on Meadow. She starts galloping away, sending one last concerned look at the poor midnight horse
"Don't worry, we'll visit him again." I say soothingly, checking the time. It's almost noon, it took longer to get here than I realized.
"I have to get back Meadow, I'm sorry. I'll stay longer next time, I promise." I say with a sigh. She nods understandingly, dropping me off back in the clearing. I say goodbye and run out, quickly stuffing my hood in my pocket before exiting the forest. I open our door hesitantly, wondering if anyone is still here. Luckily it's only mom.
"Hey sweetie, how was it?" She asks kindly, starting to make lunch. I shrug, thinking over what to say.
"I saw him today." I say vaguely, making her turn around.
"Who? Someone you admire?" She asks, making me blush slightly.
"No. The animal tamer. He was talking to the prince about something, at one point he gestured to an injured black horse that was lying on the ground. He seemed angry." I say, glad to be able to clear my name.
"Oh? He must've been upset that the poor thing had been hurt, talking with the prince about him. So he's not just a rumor?" She asks curiously. I nod, not really knowing what else I'm supposed to say.
After a couple of days I've learned how to be more cautious in the ways of my expeditions, and no one sees me, yet Roman has been showing all intents of saying something about what happened with the midnight horse. I walk into the forest today, for once not really planning on speaking with Meadow. She's caring for her sister at the moment, and it feels nice to walk for once. As I get closer to the palace the forest seems to get darker, like a shadow has been cast upon the place. I see a shadow moving through the trees and stop, staring at it as they let out a whine. Mama! It calls out, looking around frantically. I stare at the shadow another minute before speaking.
"What happened to your mother?" I ask quietly, using a soothing tone to ease it's worries. It whines again. They tried to- all of a sudden they're cut off my an arrow sailing right above my head, and at them. I jump forwards and catch the arrow in my hand, looking at them fearfully.
"Run." I whisper, and they do. I flee as more arrows shower the trees, making me duck hurriedly. Who are they? And what did they try to do?
A few weeks later and there have been more 'sightings' of me, thanks to the prince. He made it public that I'm real, and since he wants to find out who I am, to look for someone in a black cloak riding a white horse. It's been getting harder and harder to go out, not wanting to raise suspicion from my mom. I have to hold back a scream every time I hear about it, that 'he' could be out there somewhere and that no one would even know. It's also been hard to visit the midnight horse, since Roman is keeping a close watch over him. Meadow understands, and has even visited him a few times by herself, but we both wish we could go together.
I see the sky darken and hear a scream, making me run down to the kitchen. Mom and dad are staring out the window in terror. A loud announcement starts blasting through the village.
"Attention! We are under attack, get to safety as quickly as possible!" Roman's voice rings through the streets, everyone panicking even more. I look out the window and see three giant monsters, all of them shadow creatures, staring over the town, the biggest one staring at the palace maliciously, while the other two, who are roughly each the size of our house, standing behind it menacingly. Dread fills my stomach as I realize what I have to do. I'm the only one who can tame it, not even Roman could slay it, and the shadow creatures are too fast to be caught by an army. I sprint out of the house, ignoring my parents calls as I grab my cloak swiftly, running to the forest. I let out a high-pitched whistle that I only use in emergencies, Meadow comes running into the clearing. I mount her and we take off towards the castle, staring at the horrifying beasts approaching.
"What do you think you're doing?!" Roman shouts as we get near, a bewildered and worried look on his face. I don't answer, getting as close as I can before hopping of Meadow, shouting over the roars of the monsters.
"Go! I'll come back later, it's not safe for you!" I shout, starting to run forwards. She puts her head on my shoulder one last time, before running off to the forest. Clouds of dark mist are starting to appear, quickly surrounding me in darkness. I trudge forwards, fear gripping me tightly. I make it close enough that the fog clears, and I'm twenty feet away from the largest monster. It looks down at me and roars, before swiping at something else. I whip my head to the side only to see Roman dodging out of the way. Is he insane?!
"Hey." I say softly to the creature, yet still firm. It looks to me, an evil glint in it's eyes "That's bad. We don't hurt people." I reprimand gently, like a parent would to their young child. It stares down curiously at me, it's look less hungry "Leave him alone, he did nothing to you." I continue, watching as it becomes more subdued "Why are you here?" I ask quietly, looking up at it cautiously. It roars, though this time not as angrily. He has sent his army and killed my child! I came for revenge! I stare over at Roman in shock, who's staring right back.
"Did you really?" I ask incredulously. He opens his mouth, but for a moment nothing comes out.
"Did I really do what?!" He asks, completely shocked.
"Send your fighters out to kill her child?" I ask, fear coursing through me no matter how calm I act. She growls behind me. Yes, he did. Realization dawns on his face, fear widening his eyes.
"I didn't know it was a child! But even still, it was destroying another village! What else was I supposed to do, let it walk free?" She growls louder, a murderous look returning to her eye. On another kingdoms orders! If they did not, I would be killed! You should've attacked the other kingdom! I freeze, terrible realization on my face.
"He cannot understand you, so he had no idea that another kingdom had done that. There was no way for him to communicate, if he had known the truth he surely wouldn't have done that, but he was acting on what he thought was best. After all, how would he know that there could be a revenge plot behind a supposed monster wrecking homes?" I tell her quietly, trying my hardest to let her know that I am not accusing her of anything. Her gaze softens as she starts to look at it from his point of view. I think back to my strange encounter, hope blossoming in my chest. They tried to kill me, but I ran. I finish in my head, looking up at her. She whines sorrowfully. I am sorry, I did not know what it looked like to you. The swirling mist stops, and she starts backing away. Roman stands up, wielding his sword. He starts charging at her, but I jump in the way.
"NO!" I shout, stepping in front of his sword with my hands outstretched. He stops just in time, but his sword creates a thin rip in my hood. I turn to her, a sympathetic look on my face "There's a chance you child is still alive. I saw them in the woods a few weeks ago, calling out for their mother, saying that someone tried to I think kill them, but an arrow" I glare pointedly at Roman "was shot, cutting them off. They ran, but they could still be in the woods." I say gently, and a small smile appears on her face. She turns to the two smaller ones. Come, we are going to the woods to find your brother. She lightly growls, and they shrink significantly, small enough that the mother is only half the size of my house, and the two children are the size of dog-houses. She kneels to me, lowering her head and exposing her neck, showing that she trusts me. I yank Roman's sword out of his head and climb on, carefully holding it so it doesn't hurt her. Roman scrambles on afterwards, desperately trying to take his weapon back. I hold it out of his reach, before I sigh frustratedly.
"Stop it, before I throw this to the ground." He immediately freezes, putting his hands in his lap silently. I put it in my belt before leaning forwards and holding on tight as she raises her head, Roman quickly following. She starts running towards the forest, making people scream before they see us on her, looks of bewilderment on their faces. As we get to the woods she dumps us off gently, turning into mostly shadow instead of monster, her daughters following. I walk with them, until Meadow comes up, a fond smile somehow on her face.
"Is- is your horse smiling at you?" Meadow snorts, glaring lightly in his direction. He raises his hands in defeat, his eyes widening slightly. We walk deeper and deeper, until I freeze in my tracks, making everyone else stop too.
Help. A creature whines, and before anyone can react I'm sprinting towards it. They all look confused but follow anyways, I guess it makes sense, I learned a long time ago that I have better hearing than most people, or even animals. As I get closer the whine gets louder, so that the mother can hear it too. Help, I've been shot! They're closing in! That's most definitely the same shadow I saw last time, and as I burst into another clearing I see a terrifying sight. The poor shadow curling up in fear as about a hundred people aim their weapons at it, whether it be a sword or bow, or even spear. I run in front of it, crying out in fear and panic.
"STOP!" I shout, tears forming in my eyes as I know it's a second too late. They all fire, but I block everything, taking every single hit myself. The creature whines in surprise, sadness in it's tone. Why did you do that? You're gonna die in my place! Why did they hurt you?! The mother rushes in and scoops her child up, glaring furiously at everyone. Roman looks shocked, as do most of his fighters. They lower their heads, ashamed when they realize Roman was there too. The mother walks over to me, putting a giant paw on me as I start bleeding out, and fast. A purple glow surrounds me, and within seconds I'm no longer in pain. It's the least I could do. She says softly, like a cat purring. I nod, a small smile on my face.
"Roman! Why would someone you're with want to stop this creature? And why does he have your weapon?!" Logan calls out, an angry look on his face.
"Because he was trying to hurt them without knowing the full story! Do you really think this kid would do something like that if he had a choice? He was blackmailed by another kingdom, if he didn't do their bidding they'd kill his mother! Would you have done any different?" I demand, glaring at every one of them. Their eyes widen in surprise, shame and guilt in their eyes once more. Thank you, for everything. The mother says, looking around angrily at everyone too.
"How do you know that? Despite the rumors, there is no way to speak to animals. You are simply good at calming them down." Logan says, still glaring. I sigh, how am I supposed to get them to believe me?
But he can! Whines one of the daughters, so high-pitched that everyone has to cover their ears. It's not like it's instinctual, they physically have to if they don't want their ears to bleed, yet I keep mine uncovered, making them all stare in awe and fear. See, he doesn't have to do that, he can listen to us perfectly fine! The other daughter whines, just as high-pitched.
They're all a bunch of idiots. Maybe you can use the ants again? Meadow asks, having followed along with us. I nod, bending down to the ground. There are about a thousand ants huddled outside their colony, listening in to the one person they understand.
"Hey, these guys don't believe me, do you think you could help me out? Just do a formation or something please, I don't mean to bother you." I whisper apologetically. The leader nods, making Roman stare, confused yet amazed. They all start stacking onto each other until they form a hand, with the middle finger sticking out. The shadows laugh, while I can't help but smile as I 'reprimand' them.
"That's not what I meant!" I say with a laugh, making the ants all collectively shrug.
"That-that's not proof!" Logan stammers, his eyes wider than I've ever seen them. I sigh again, taking out a pen and paper.
"Okay Logan. Catch a spider and draw a circle around it with the pen, it should act trapped. Then say 'it's not harmful' softly to it and see if that works." I say, handing it to him. He looks even more bewildered, yet he is not one to turn down an opportunity to prove someone wrong. As the spider doesn't react when he speaks he looks up at me smugly.
"See, it doesn't work." He says gloatingly. I smile, taking it back from him. I turn the paper over and wait until I see a spider, quickly catching it and trapping it.
"Hey, it won't hurt you." Like before, the small arachnid looks up at me hesitantly, before placing one cautious foot on the ink. As nothing happens it scampers out, hurriedly dropping to the ground. Logan is frozen in place, pure awe on his face.
See? The mother growls out slightly, a disbelieving look on her face. Everyone turns to her fearfully, backing away slightly.
"It's a shame no one can understand you." I say gently, looking up to her sympathetically. She nods, looking down sadly at her son. As she does so a gust of wind blows through, pulling at my hood. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but since it's thoroughly damaged from Roman and his army's weapons hitting it, the hood rips right off, dropping to the ground. Meadow runs in front of me and I duck my head, why now? Roman stares at me in awe and tears start forming in my eyes. Just what I need, more attention. I'll be known throughout the entire kingdom, my own family won't know until everyone else does. They'll call me a hero when really they were all just cruel, and people all over will be constantly asking me for help with their animals. I'll never have any time to myself because Roman will sure to keep me occupied, he has proven time and time again he doesn't understand that some people need time to themselves. Tears start streaming down my face as I get lost in my own mind, thankfully Meadow pressed her neck right against my face so no one can see.
Are you alright? The small shadow asks, worry in his tone. I don't move, yet my body is shaking with anxiety and pent up sobs. No one knows how to react, but the mother seems to realize what's happening. Are you having an anxiety attack? Oh my gosh, I must have scared you so much when you came up to calm me, I was 5 times the size I am now and still you faced me like you were unafraid. I'm so sorry. She whines out, sorrow and worry in her tone as well. Meadow places her head on my shoulder, still keeping her neck in front of my face. I hear Roman start to move closer, but as he starts to speak I lose track of all noise. The voices in my head get louder, until I can no longer discern reality from my own head.
"They'll all hate you once they see who you are." A shadow figure, like a person made out of darkness, says appearing beside me.
"You must seem pathetic." Another one says, appearing on the other side of me. Still, I do not flinch.
"Everyone's always hated you, especially Roman. Have you seen the way he glares at you? Even though you can't deny your feelings for him, he can say the same about his hate for you. You'd have to be an idiot to not realize it." Yet another one says, sitting on Meadow. How does she not feel them? Tears start streaming down my face faster now, they're all telling the truth.
"You should just die, this world would be better without you." A new one says, directly behind me. I choke back a sob.
"B-but-" I stutter, wouldn't the child have been killed? And so would Roman, and maybe even the entire kingdom?
"They'd rather be dead than alive with you." Okay, that's a fair point.
"Yeah." I say meekly, and about ten of them appear as I say this, all of them opening their mouths to speak.
Who're you talking to? A small whine from the youngest shadow creature cuts them all off. Can't he hear them? Or at least see them?
"No, you've officially gone insane. We live with you now." They all say together, laughing maniacally. This time I flinch back, falling to the ground. I start crawling backwards, away from them, away from the embarrassment, away away away. I hold back a scream as they follow me, covering my head with my hands.
"You can't escape us, you created us!" They say together again, creeping closer with manic smiles on their faces. I flinch again, even more tears streaming down my face.
"They hate you, and you know it. You tried to help them, but they hate you. You care for them, yet they hate you. They hate you they hate you they hate you they hate you THEY HATE YOU THEY HATE YOU-" I let out a sob as they start chanting louder and louder, my vision blurring. I start crawling backwards faster, away away away away AWAY. I hold back a scream as they hit me, yet no mark appears on my skin. I still feel the pain though, but it looks as though nothing happened. They laugh again and they all start hitting me, still chanting as loud as they can. I sob again, until my back hits a tree. I don't hear the loud thump, nor the strange cracking sound around me, the only things I can still hear are the shadows coming closer and closer each time they hurt me. I curl in a ball, sobbing harshly and crying out in pain each time they hit me, my eyes clamped shut tightly. I feel another pain, though this time it feels more real. It hits me on the head and the last thing I see is a branch bouncing off me as my vision fades to black.
I shoot up, glancing around frantically. I'm in, my room? Was it all a dream? I feel a sharp pain on my head and reach up to feel a bump. That would be a no. Panic starts to set in again as I remember what happened. Even if they didn't see my face when I fell, they most certainly would have as they brought me back here. I roll over and start quietly sobbing into my pillow. At least those horrible shadow figures are gone.
"Hello, I see you're awake." A voice says, making me flip over with a scream, quickly hiding my face with my arms. I peek through and see my mom, a sad look on her face.
"Oh. Hi mom." I say sheepishly, looking down in embarrassment.
"What happened? They told me you just started freaking out when your hood ripped off, did it really mean that much to you?" I stare at her in surprised confusion. Did they not tell her what happened?
"I-I'm the animal tamer. I had my hood over my face and when it ripped off it revealed me to everyone, and since Roman can't keep something this big a secret the entire town will know, and then I'll have even more attention on me, and I'll never get any time to just relax and everything will just be so anxiety-inducing everytime I go outside and I'll never be able to just be peaceful again and-" She cuts off my rambling with a gentle hug.
"Oh honey, I'm so sorry. They didn't tell me, but they haven't revealed anything yet. What happened with that monster yesterday? Is that why you screamed when you saw me?" I shake my head frantically.
"No, they were good. Another kingdom threatened her child, making it ravage another one of our towns or else they'd kill his mother, so Roman tried to have him killed. Everything was solved, except for what kingdom did this yet, but they all hit me with their weapons when I jumped in front of the child. The mother healed me, but my cloak was damaged, so when the wind blew it off it revealed me to hundreds of people. Thankfully Meadow, the white horse, shielded me from view." I say, taking a breath. Mom interrupts me though, a concerned look on her face.
"If it wasn't truly revealed then why did you freak out?" She asks kindly. I take in a shuddering breath.
"I had an anxiety attack because Roman hates me, the real me, and then he knew that the person who had done some rather rude things to him to save everyone was the person he already hated, he surely would do something bad. I deserve it anyways, but I wouldn't be allowed to see you again most likely. Then the-the" I swallow nervously, tears forming in my eyes "the sh-shadows started appearing, telling me things I already knew were true. B-but then they started hitting me as I backed up, and they probably thought me stupid for sobbing at nothing, and I backed into a tree. The branch broke at the impact and knocked me out, and even if they didn't see my identity then, they surely saw it when they brought me back here." I finish, tears falling silently down my face. She hugs me tightly, whispering in my ear. When will this nightmare be over?
Roman's P.O.V.
I sigh, leaning against the door-frame as Virgil's mother walks into his room, closing the door behind her. I've treated him so horribly in the past, no wonder why he freaked out when his hood came off. I tried to shrug off my feelings for him, and treated him awfully to try and let anger towards him take over. Obviously that didn't work. I listen in a little and I'm surprised to hear sobbing, before his mother speaks, making him scream. I just listen as they talk, wincing as he says that I hate him. I wish I could go in and tell him it's not true, but if I show up he'll probably panic all over again. He had an anxiety attack because of me for crying out loud! I'm a horrible person. My eyes widen as he mentions that shadows appeared to him. But they told him things he already thought were true? Given the thoughts that occur during an anxiety attack, he must hate himself to believe any of them! I stiffen as realization hits me like a ton of bricks. I snap out of it as he continues, and I feel fury wind up in me as he tells her that they hit him! No wonder why he was crying out, he was being attacked! And it only made him feel worse because we couldn't see them! Tears form in my eyes as he finishes. He's gone through so much, and things only seem to be getting worse for him, yet he still walked up to a monster more than twice the size of a large house and spoke to it without showing fear, like he was explaining to a small child. He, despite most definitely suffering from severe anxiety, was able to be brave enough to act with me as though any other person, most people wouldn't dare do that, even if I wouldn't mind.
Things need to be resolved. But, not just now. No, what's important now is that he gets some proper rest, and has time to be with his caring family. So maybe things aren't the best right now, but that's just how life goes sometimes. Life goes on, and we soon forget almost entirely about most of our traumatic moments. At least I finally got to see the real person behind the animal tamer, and I vow to never make the same mistakes again.Again, this has been sitting here since the beginning of the summer, and it's December now. Whoops. This is actually why I don't update a lot, I just don't know how to end these things. I only added a paragraph. -_- Hope you enjoyed!
