Human AU, Virgil's a demon
Virgil's P.OV.
I feel another human summoning me, and rise into their world, a mini stormcloud over me for my usual entrance. I see a bubbly man standing with his back to me, idly tracing shapes in some frosting on his counter. He doesn't seem to have noticed me, and i notice he spelled out my name in the frosting by accident. He adjusts his cardigan and glasses, getting frosting on both of them. I glance around and see two people in his living room, watching a Disney movie, one of them also wearing glasses and a tie, the other looking like a prince from one of those movies. The man who summoned me checks a timer, and I realize there are cupcakes baking in the oven. I decide to make my presence known, and make a tiny lightning bolt crack in the stormcloud. He jumps and turns around, but it doesn't yet gain the attention of his two guests. He looks confused, but smiles anyways.
"Hi kiddo? How'd you get in here?" He asks happily, albeit a little shakily. I don't blame him, he seems like a pretty happy person and he just summoned a demon by accident. I point to the frosting.
"You summoned me." I say simply. He looks confused again.
"Summoned?" He asks, still smiling.
"I'm a demon. You spelled out my name and summoned me. I take it you didn't mean to?" This is the most pleasant experience I've had with someone who's summoned me by far.
"Oh! Well you can have a cupcake  if you'd like, they're almost done." He says happily. Now it's my turn to be confused. What kind of person welcomes a demon into their home like an old friend?
"Wait, what?" I ask. Apparently I say this a little too loudly because the people on the couch turn to look at me, the one dressed like a prince rushing in here while the one with a tie backs away.
"How'd you get in here villain?!" The prince one exclaims. I point at him.
"See, that's how I expected to be treated, not you offering me a cupcake. Like, what?" I say. Princey, as I have now named him, looks at me curiously, taking out a samurai sword. I don't bother reacting, turning back to the smiling man.
"Patton, you did what?" The man in the tie yells from the other room. I look at him.
"Exactly! What kind of person welcomes a demon into their home?" I say. Now the other two look even more shocked. Princey slices at me, but another bolt of lightning zaps the sword out of his hand. He backs away now, fear on his face.
"Well I accidentally summoned him, I should do something to apologize for that. He probably has places to be." Patton says kindly, grabbing an oven mitt as the timer goes off. He takes the pan out and looks to me apologetically "Sorry about that." He says. I'm so shocked my stormcloud disappears, and Princey grabs his sword again, trying to drag Patton out of the kitchen. Patton refuses, instead frosting a cupcake and offering it to me. I stare at him, as bewildered as the other two.
"But... but I'm a literal demon, you don't find that the slightest bit disconcerting? That doesn't make you scared of me?" I ask, unused to this kind behavior. He shrugs.
"Roman, Logan, don't be rude." He comments to his friends. Roman walks forwards slightly, an untrusting look in his eye. Honestly, I don't blame him.
"Patton, dare I ask how you managed to summon a demon?" Logan says, pinching the bridge of his nose. He points to the frosting, setting the cupcake down. They both stare at it, looking completely shocked, but at the same time they look like they half expected this to happen.
"Of course you would accidentally summon a demon with frosting. You wouldn't be Patton if you didn't." Roman says disbelievingly, facepalming. I chuckle quietly.
"I've gotta say though, this is the best experience I've ever had with a person, even with you trying to run your sword through me." I say, earning a brief surprised glance from Roman, while Patton looks sad. I immediately feel guilty and anxious, I didn't mean to make him sad. He's been so nice to me, I shouldn't have said anything. My anxious thoughts start swirling around me, making my stormcloud reappear and start growing, though I'm too taken by my anxious thoughts to really notice. Logan starts backing away from me, Roman taking his sword out again while Patton looks even more upset, only making my anxious thoughts become worse.
"You okay there kiddo?" Patton asks, snapping me out of my trance. I shrug, trying to put my dark persona back on.
"Yeah, sorry about that." I say casually, focusing on keeping my stormcloud it's normal size.
"What was that?" Roman asks, pointing his sword at me defensively. As much as I want to just leave right now, this is my one chance to have someone to trust, to have someone to talk to, and I don't want to throw that away. I sigh, letting my cloud grow slightly bigger with my anxiety. Fitting, as it's my nickname down there with the other demons.
"My nickname from other's is Anxiety, as I am actually extremely anxious most of the time. If I let it get out of control, my stormcloud grows accordingly." I admit, looking down. I don't bother looking up, I know they're all probably silently laughing at me. What kind of demon is pathetic enough to be scared of other people's reactions? The garbage that I am, that's who.
"Oh, sorry kiddo, I didn't mean to make you nervous." Patton says, making me look up in surprise. Roman looks shocked, but still guarded and Logan is just pinching the bridge of his nose again. To be honest, Logan's reaction is the one I expected most, I'd think Roman would be the one to laugh and Patton would just smile, he's probably only nice to me because he's afraid.
"Patton, remember you're apologizing to a demon." Roman says warily. I shrug, forcing myself to look back at him.
"I can leave if you want?" I suggest, not wanting to be the one to break their obviously close relationship. He immediately shakes his head, almost frantically.
"No! Well, if you want to go then I won't stop you, but I apologize for my friends behavior." He says, glaring pointedly at them for a moment. I shrug again.
"Nah, I expected that. I mean, they kinda have a right to treat me like that, and be surprised at your acceptance of me." I say, praying it doesn't come off as an insult. He sighs, lowering his head.
"Roman, put your sword down." Logan says, albeit slightly begrudgingly. I try not to let hope take over me, he could just be trying to stop him from getting hurt.
"Why? He's a monster!" Roman shouts, almost as surprised as I am.
"Well he's a monster that has better social awareness and acceptance than I do." He states, glaring slightly at his friend. Roman stares at him in shock, before lowering his weapon, a look of disbelief and realization on his face. Patton looks up hopefully. Before I can process what's happening he's squeezing me tightly, so that I can barely breathe. Wait, is he- is he hugging me? A stranger and literally being from hell? What??? The??? Hell??? A look of sudden realization comes over his face and he lets go sheepishly, a guilty look on his face.
"Sorry, I should've asked first." He says, looking down shamefaced. I shake my head.
"No, it's fine, it's just something I was not expecting. Though I kinda should've you seem like the person to do that." I say, a small smirk on my face. He smiles back bashfully, blushing slightly.
"What the f-" Roman begins, before Patton cuts him off.
"LANGUAGE!" He shouts, making me flinch because of just how loud and sudden it was. I wasn't scared of him at all, what're you talking about?
"English." Logan replies simply. Patton's face light up.
"Did you just make a dad joke?" He asks excitedly. Logan's face fills with regret, his expression like a deer in headlights.
"No, I didn't, I stated a fact, it was-" He rushes to explain, but Patton interrupts him.
"It was so a dad joke!" He says giddily, bouncing on the heels of his feet.
"FALSEHOOD!" Logan screeches, taking me by surprise. I would've thought he would be the last person to lose his calm and shout like that.
Perhaps being a demon has it's perks, like getting to become part of an amazing friend group and being able to pop in at any time. It also means I can play the best pranks, but that's a story for another time.

Woo! I'm actually achieving stuff! Keep in mind, there is 100% going to be a part two to this, just so you know, but it might take a while. See ya.
