"Oh my Toby Fox these are the best things I have ever tasted," Dust said, taking another bite of the pop tart and pancake combination.

"I know! The Magnificent Blue always makes the best pancakes!" Blue declared, holding up his fork into the air.

The two were still inside of Blue's room, finally having finished making their sugar-crammed desserts and decided to sit down and enjoy them, instead of being at the party like they were supposed to be. They both had completely forgotten about it, because they were having so much fun it had slipped from their minds. Not to mention how it was basically Horror's fault he even wrote the diary and didn't destroy it, not Dust's. He had originally tagged along to make up for his own mistake of being knocked out, but hey, those things happen.

And the pancake he was digging into was too delicious to even stop.

While vampires couldn't use food for energy, they could still eat it, even though the flavors were usually dulled. Some foods they couldn't taste, while some still had their flavors intact, it just depended on the vampire. Dust knew that fish was one of the few things Horror could still taste, and he liked the flavor, so if he had a chance, he would eat a fish normally.

However, once an animal or fish was dead, the vampires couldn't absorb it's energy, so they couldn't gain any fuel from it. So they tended to avoid eating real food much, since they didn't need it while other people did, and because those people were starving.

But since the castle had imported food, there was an opening to eat real food just for the taste.

Dust didn't think he could taste sugar, but he could taste this, and it was worth tasting very much.

"I'm glad someone else likes my cooking, it's usually too sugary for others to eat," Blue said, smiling at Dust.

"I mean, I won't get a sugar rush from it, but it's still good!" Dust said.

"How won't you get a sugar rush?" Blue asked.

"Oh..." Dust said, pausing as he realized his mistake.

Vampires, like himself, weren't affected by food properties. For example, if a food was poisoned, it wouldn't affect them. And things also like a sugar rush would not affect them either. But he couldn't just tell Blue, since he would probably be killed, no matter how nice Blue was.

"I've had lots of sugar before, I'm immune to it!" Dust said.

"That's awesome!" Blue said, "Same!"

Whew, saved.

"Shoot-a-loot!" Dust said, "Just realized that we completely skipped out on the party. Will you get in trouble?"

"I'll just say that Sans wanted me to go grab something he forgot, then we'll be fine!" Blue said, taking a large bite out of his food, "And we were there for the speech, so we wouldn't get into trouble, as long as we sneak back in."

"You seem too experienced for this to have been your first time skipping, do you skip for these amazing pancakes?" Dust asked, his voice muffled as he downed at least half of a pancake.

"Not all the time, just when I feel like it," Blue admitted.

He didn't want to say exactly why he skipped sometimes, but it was because he sometimes just had a hard time pulling up a smile. Sometimes, it was just too much, and he needed to take a break. He would go to his room, get a glass of water, and just take a little breath. He learned pretty quickly how to skip out on parties that Asgore threw, just as long as Asgore didn't see, and he had an excuse for if a guard saw, everything would be fine. Some guards even turned their back, so Blue also learned which ones he needed to be near in order to sneak out.
