"Fancy meeting you here again."
Killer and Dream were sitting on the bare dirt, stumbling upon each other once again. Dream didn't know why he wanted to go and try to find Killer again. Well, yeah, he actually did know.
"Did you know I have photographic memory?" Dream asked suddenly, tilting his head.
Killer glanced over from the sky, a curious look being shot in his direction. He didn't know Killer that well, but he intended to get to know him better.
"I used to have a brother," Dream said.
"Uh, how are those two related?" Killer asked, "Are you okay?"
"I thought about it, and that stuff dripping from your eye sockets looks awfully like the stuff in his soul."
Killer paused for a moment as Dream studied his response. He spent some of his free time pondering, and then a memory of seeing Nightmare's soul had flashed in his head. It was completely filled with some sort of black tar liquid, and then he started to draw similarities between vampires. Some tales told of black liquid covering surfaces, others didn't. Well, there weren't many to choose from, since the reports had only started technically recently, and this was completely different than regular vampires.
"I'm not stupid, I graduated four years earlier than I was supposed to," Dream said, "I can see something and connect pieces together. It doesn't take long for me to find out things. You're like Nightmare, aren't you. A vampire."
Killer seemed frozen before he burst out laughing, nodding his head.
"What's the point of lying? You won't buy it," Killer said, "And I can just kill you if you try to tattle on me."
"I... wasn't expecting you to be so honest," Dream said, "But, I'm guessing that liquid is a trait some vampires have."
Killer thought for a moment, thinking over his options. He could kill Dream, but Nightmare would kill him for it. Killer, too, wasn't stupid and was able to figure out that Dream was probably Nightmare's twin from looks and nightmare mentioning he had a brother named Dream who was a Jury member. He could run, but why would he do that? Actually, would Dream even snitch? He probably wouldn't.
"You already figured it out, why are you asking me?" Killer asked, "Look, I'm going to be straight with you. You're not a dumb guy, that's clear, but I don't think you're going to rat me out to the King, or anyone. You said your brother was a vampire, it wouldn't help at all with your case. And I'm assuming you're looking for him."
"Do you know him? At all?" Dream asked, "I... i just want to see him again."
Killer wasn't going to choose a random stranger over Nightmare. Nightmare mentioned Dream once to Killer, and he said to not get Dream involved in his new life at all, to protect him. It was safer to not be intertwined with vampires, since they were wanted dead, but Dream manged to tell that Killer was a vampire only after seeing him once. Which is really impressive.
"No," Killer finally lied, "I'm not sure. I don't think I recognize the name."
Dream sighed, nodding.
"I expected as such," The jury member spoke softly, standing up, "I should go now. Don't worry, your secret is safe with me. But, if you find out anything, even if he dusted, please tell me. I would really like closure."
"I doubt I'll find anything," Killer said, standing up from the dirt, "But, I feel like if he was alive, he'd miss you too. So don't give up, okay?"
That look.
The vampire couldn't describe it. The skeleton before him looked so lost and alone, but was still clinging to hope and determination. The look startled him, he was not expecting that.
"I won't," Dream said, his eye sockets softening, "And you, stay determined too. Even though you're a vampire, you're a victim of Asgore, like the rest of us. We have to stick together."
"We do, smart man," Killer said, waving him goodbye.
~~~~~~
"Tonight, it's the best time, during night when Asgore will probably be asleep."
Sans paced back and forth in his room, twirling a letter in his hands as he tried to think of a solution to explaining to Blue why he was going to disappear with the family that night. The letter had informed him that they would be leaving, tonight, no questions asked. But Blue wasn't exactly the best at keeping secrets. Sometimes his face would get bright blue, other times he would stutter. He wasn't terrible, but sometimes it wasn't good with giving him secrets. Such as he's going to sneak out in a ship in the middle of the night and never return.
Razz did mention that they could also bring some people to help them escape, but he needed Blue here, he couldn't take him too. Blue was one of the calmer people, able to get others to a more rational level. He was important to keeping people more calm, so Blue had to stay. As much as Sans wanted to save him, it wouldn't work.
"And we have the keys, it's just making sure one of the snitches or Asgore himself doesn't see," Sans said, pausing, "But that's going to be hard. He has so many darn guards, and I can't convince all of them to ignore the incidents. Some of them are too scared or Asgore. And everyone knows that this family is being executed by now, at least the guards do, so I can't just say their time is up, or a mistrial happened. Asgore always kills people in his dungeon, even if they're later proven innocent. So we'll have to get them to escape."
"Is there some sort of window we can all crawl out of?" Blue asked.
"No, you'll be coming back to your room," Sans said firmly, turning towards his friend, "You and I both live here, they won't question us. So, you can help me get them to escape, maybe even be a watch. But you'll head to your room afterwards."
"Then how will you escape? There's no where they can go, you'll need my help," Blue said, "Even the Magnificent Blue wouldn't be able to get them out alone."
"Whoever said Sans is going to be alone?"
Razz walked in, closing the door with a click behind him before approaching the two. Sans smiled at him while Blue glanced at him, rather confused. He knew Razz, and that Razz was pretty nice, but he wasn't in on the plan.
"I love company, but why is he here?" Blue asked.
He did love talking to people, but he was worried that getting too many people involved could get more people in trouble if they were caught.
"I overheard you all in the kitchen, and I'm helping," Razz said, "One last family saved before we're both shipped off."
"Shipped off?"
Sans nodded, placing both of his hands on Blues shoulders and staring directly into his pupils.
"Listen, Blue, this is very, very important," Sans whispered, "I need to trust you won't tell anyone."
Blue nodded firmly, confused.
"We have a friend, who's going to help us and that family escape. Then we're going to build an army and come back. We're going to save this Kingdom, Blue."
